Recently I needed a spark plug socket for a large older plug which took a 7/8" socket. Didn't have one. I'm not an automotive guy, so don't stock deep sockets in those sizes. Anyone have an old big spark plug socket?

Snap-On offers an aviation socket for $75, or you can do what the old tractor guys do and make one. Find a 7/8" deep-well socket, a piece of foam pipe isulation, and some duck tape. Cut the foam about an inch wide and fit it into the socket. When you get it the right size, wrap it with the tape, leave the edges a little wider than the foam. Roll the edge of the tape back to the outside and insert it into the socket. I've been using one like this for 20 years now on our gas tractors.
