I have learned something.
Had dinner at the Apiary in December.
I think the steak I had there was cooked with this method.
That is a cool device. Need to add to my list of things to try.

A couple of weeks ago I put some springs on a friends CTSV and he wasn't happy with the stance of the fronts. It seems to be a common complaint so I chopped 5 inches off the springs for him. Looks great now! We are gonna tune / upgrade the super charger soon.

I read the "chopped 5 inches off the springs" before I saw the picture and had a little OH $hit moment.

I like the stance! If those are Eibach springs they may settle a little more over time. I've had a set on our PT Cruiser for 13 years and the front bumper cover is a bit closer to the ground now compared to when they were new. Make sure your friend orders a set or two of the front splitters (I think Cadillac calls them Deflectors). Even at stock height I have broken two in 18 months (luckily broke the left first and the right just recently). Guy on eBay sells the set of three for $80.
Viper fuel system mocked up

It was hard to for me to see (I'm old) and thought you used worm clamps on the fuel lines. Good to see they are Otiker-style so your system will be leak-free for a long time.
Im still in love with my Souse Vide machine....makes cooking perfect steaks effortless.

289.JPG
I love ours but my wife thinks the steaks are raw, even if I set the Anova to 140*F for hers. She says my steak could be brought back to life by a good vet. Of course she also hated the microwave I brought home in 1968... and the VCR.... I haven't told her the Blueray isn't a VCR. She's still mad about pushbuttons on the phone.

MH: i've got clients and friends that lift a lot and i've never seen that set up on a bar or that machine. care to share how much weight you have on your bar and what brand of plates? also have you tried or thought of maybe trying to add bands from the bottom of your cage (some are built with hooks or you might be able to weld a few on) or heavy heavy chains.

Sure.

The machine is a velocity device which measures how fast the bar moves. This is good info to know IF you have created a velocity profile for yourself. Its like a fingerprint...everyone's will be different. But after you have that data its a great way to get objective feedback on how your moving that day so that you can accurately adjust the weight to hit the prescribed percentages. Its geared mostly toward mid level to elite powerlifters. I don't think it would offer the average fitness enthusiast much benefit as that level of detail just isn't relevant.

Weight on that bar is 525lbs. It was from a 90%+ squat day.

The bands on this specific bar are to keep the plates from falling off as there wasn't enough room on the bar. Lots of commercial gyms have this issue as they where built more around general fitness. I talked to management and ordered 100lb thin plates so that I can keep adding weight safely. Got looked at weirdly rolling them in....part of it.

In reference to adding bands / chains to the bottom of the rack around the bar, yes. Its referred to as accommodating resistance or the "future method". The cliff notes on it are that the body's strength curve is non linear meaning you can squat more weight in the top 30% of the movement than you can over the entire range. So people will add bands or chains to increase the load as the movement progress's from a weaker point to a stronger one. I work that in to my training at different points pending what I am trying to get done. Band and chain work will beat you in to the ground if your not use to it and even then needs to be used sparingly for most lifters.

Glad you liked the pics....and yea hes a very happy dog :)

The Lambo is still up the air on what I want to do with it and having time to do it. I have been so busy with work and building other peoples cars that I haven't made time for my own. The game plan as of right now is to send the engine off to get built next month.

Hope all is good with you!

Reminds me of my mom, lol. Absolutely was PISSED when my dad brought home DirecTV however many years ago (before you could get the equipment almost free) but wouldn't have gone without it after a few weeks of having it.

Honestly... I have been disappointed in them. Do you have a set that you do like?

I have a pair of the 2nd from left. Not Snap-on, but that tool gets used a LOT!! The only thing I don’t like is that it pinches my gloves if I’m not careful.

Awesome garage, this thread has been great, thank you for sharing with us. Do you do some form of music production? I was a recording engineer in my previous career.

Thanks!

Yeah I have been playing guitar for a long time. Did some recording years ago. Mostly just annoy my fiance / neighbors with it now

Thats awesome...when I first got into recording I was overwhelmed / naive about how much there was to know. I am still at a very intro level with the recording side.

Here's some of my gear...

292.JPG

Guitar an X painted and my long time friend / owner of Bastin Guitar finished up for me. Fender Strat body, Warmouth Neck and Bastin spec hardware.

293.JPG

Custom from ground up Bastin guitar sport... 4th one ever made. If you have never played an aluminum instrument I highly recommend it. My SG is heavily modded and this thing still crushes it.

294.JPG

Les Paul Studio

295.JPG

Gibson SG Standard...heavily modded

296.JPG

Gretsch Super Chet that was my grandfathers. He died before I was born so its cool having this.

297.JPG

Main Rig: Mesa Tripple Rec with a TC Electronic G System + sonic maximizer with some other pedals. Drastic overkill for what I do now...but still cool to have.

The Triple Rectifier is a great amp if you can open it up.......which means LOUD!

+1

That Strat is beautiful, but that Gretsch... Those guitars sound absolutely incredible! I’ve never heard an aluminum guitar, that’s a new one for me.

I know all the ins and outs of studios, how to use the huge recording consoles to even basic computer set ups. I sure miss it. Sorry for side tracking your thread. I’ll be watching for updates!

Very neat space you've created! We have very similar taste in vehicles and animals!

Strangely enough, I just gave my Anova sous vide cooker a try this weekend on some fillets also. It's quite the kitchen gadget!

Travis Bean made the first aluminum guitars in the 70's. The biggest issue I remember is tuning was all over the place due to thermal expansion. Revolutionary though.

I have slowly been getting all of my old tools and new tools organized into one box....and trying to make sure it has a very functional layout. Not done yet....but getting there.

Mad Hatter - I am a fellow OCD garage & tool tidiness addict! My tool draw is very similarly organised, however you have inspired me to have a little re organise this evening to include my sockets as they're currently in the carry-boxes they come in - yours looks great, love it!

I do like an immaculately organised garage. Maybe i can post a quick photo of my garage here in England although I don't want to hijack your thread...;)

Keep up the good work :thumbup:

Here you go MH - smaller garages here in England than your US garages (mines a double) but hopefully meets with your approval :dunno:

Lovely Supra you have there!

Thanks...I have been obsessed with Supras for a long time.

Dude....your garage is awesome! :rocker:
I think yours is cleaner than mine and everything looks really well organized and logically arranged. Looks clean enough to do surgery in there...congrats!

As soon as I saw your screen name I thought man....wonder if thats the same guy from iron addicts!?

Good to see you here sir...that was still one of my favorite forums ever. Im still a mod / admin there but just kind of a ghost town after Wes passed.

I haven't got a meet picked out yet...still need to get stronger before I do one. My goal is to only do 1 meet and hit a 1645 raw @ 220 get classified as Elite and then never do another meet lol. Im somewhere around 1550 right now without wraps or a Texas bar....so not far off.

How have you been? Lifting going well? Still making equipment?

Small *** world. I miss Wes, great guy gone way too soon. I still talk to SandBlaster a bit.
Definitely still training. Bombed my first meet in 13 years in December. That stung a bit.
I closed my shop up in August, didn’t have enough free time to put into it. Kept my tools and welding table, one day I will get back into it, it’s in my blood. Great to see you here. Nice garage and cars

Our lab/pitt mix sleeps like that sometimes. I love how the pitty mouths fall open when they are upside down, lol.
