Hey Guys,

So this is my 2 car garage, although even empty it would of been a very tight fit for 2 small cars, now its a 1 car garage / shop. It has gone through 4 iterations over the past 7 years.

Basic Facts

18 x 20 with a 3 x 7 Inset. Total Sq Ft 381

1960's Ranch Style Home

1st Redo (2016)

The first redo was shortly after we moved in, I added a sub panel with 4 20 amp 220V Circuits and 5 15 amp 110 Circuits, installed Roxul Insulation and sheet rocked the walls and ceiling, then I built a basic counter top out of butcher block and bought a couple of Lowes Boxes, then moved in the Table saw, Drill pass and Bandsaw. I used this iteration to build out most of my home, Built every cabinet for the Kitchen, furniture for the living room, Library cabinets, bathroom cabinets, full theater build & a variety of other projects to completely redo the home, I did all work myself with he exception of Stone Work where I have no skills. Didn't really take many pictures of this phase.

2nd Redo (2018)

This happened about 5 years ago and this time I got a more detailed, did a full layer of 3/4 ply on the ceiling then insulated and sheet rocked, built a better counter, added some AV and generally made it look a bit more polished.

At this point I realized that the majority of major projects were done and while I'll use the space forever I wanted to transition it to a shop / new car storage area instead of just a dedicated shop space, so I sold the drill press and bandsaw and really started giving some thought to how to finish things from the ground up.

I Integrated a chop saw station and ran Compressed Air Lines throughout. I also had the floor done professionally, it came out great and looks the same to this day.

3rd Redo (2020)

For this phase

I Bought new cabinets from Sonic and completed most of my tool sets.

Upped the AV Side with a new TV, Amps and Speakers (My Profession)

Trimmed out all baseboards and basically covered even piece of the garage that I didn't think looked perfect, including boxing in the garage door opener and compressor, installed peg board and added more lighting.

Added a new sink and AV Rack as well.

Redo 3.5 Covid Desk & Car Add (2021)

This Phase involved adding a desk in place of one Cabinet on the right wall and building in a work from home set up.

Then replacing the back wall 4 small cabinets with a dedicated car wash cabinet.

This cabinet could be a thread in itself and I'm happy to go in to detail on it, but it took me about 100 Hours total and I haven't seen anything quite like it before or since.

Phase 4 (2023)

Now to today and the final touches, I don't have a need for a dedicated chop saw station and I wanted something a little better for my countertops, plus without the chop saw I could jump up to a 85 inch TV, so that brings me to now. New Porcelain 36 x 36 tile counter and desk top, bigger Tv and a few other touches including 2 more cabinets and a small door in the corner to round it out. I do still need to paint that door to match the other cabinets but I'll get to it.

Oh and a new Car to go in it all, been dreaming of this since I was 13 so it's the icing on the cake.

I feel like I'm pretty much done now....but then again there must be other ways to improve it.

So the Car Wash Cabinet is essentially a kit from Obsessed Garage with a Krenzle Pressure Washer, 100 Foot Hose on a Cox reel and a Stainless Steel Bucket Filler Hose with Hot and Cold Valve, then taking it to the next level by squeezing it all in to a 36 inch wall mounted cabinet. I mocked it all up on the wall pre cabinet, ran all the plumbing for the Bucket Filler and Pressure Washer / Ran a Dedicated 20 amp for the Pressure water and hid all of these connections in wall, behind it is a cleaning closet so I put I'm access panels in to turn off water, access plugs, etc. Then I had a whole hose Vacuum installed in the attic and a 50 Foot Hide a Hose Outlet in the cabinet so I have a 50 ft vacuum with none of the normal clutter. Then built walnut inserts for the shelves to ensure the bottles stayed in place. Final thing was mounting a Car Drying blower upside down on the botton of it.

A few Pics of the Process.

Stunning garage, love how clean everything is. To wash that beautiful Porsche, do you drag it outside? Or does the garage serve as a wash bay? Wondering about overspray and drainage…
