70's locks and keys req.for snap on tool boxes

Hi

I need to get hold of two locks and keys for my side locking snap on roll cab,and topbox.Both approx. 1970's.

I do have a lock,but no key for the topbox.

I did have a mishap with the lock for the roll cab.Just this afternoon.
I am particularly sick about that,because the problem I have been asking about,I managed to sort out.
I went slightly too far with trying to free out the lock itself and broke the inside up .Locksmith said it was unrepairable...He really tried and charged me nothing.

Problem it has a great brass key with 'Montreal Canada'and other stuff embossed on it, that I really like .Original.

Anyone prepared to sell some old locks and keys? That's all that stops the completion of the roll cab renovation.

Is it a Y series number? If so, snap on still sells keys for those through a company LVD or something like that. I'm not sure how accessable they will be over there though.

Can you post some pics of the boxes you are working on? I'm curious how they compare to the USA boxes of the 70's.

What is the key number
Yoummay be ablemto order a new lock with that key number so you can still use your old key

Yes,I'll set up some photos of what I have tomorrow morn. It's pitch black here now.
I really wanted to get hold of some old junky type locks that work,authentic old snap on..I do think you can get keys made up for existing locks(I can take the good lock in).That would solve half the problem.

I think you'll find the boxes I have are the same as yours,as they all originate from the same place(US and Canada)

Still sick about screwing up that lock.

i have a key and barrel from a 80's kr box, is that any use to you?

well its genuine key, I believe you can get a blank of the original keys. im back in the UK early January so if your still stuck then il get a picture for you.

I was able to order keys for my 1967 KRA 300B Rolla Bench from my Snap On Dealer. I just gave him the number on the lock. Good luck, if you can't get it in the UK, try contacting Snap On in the USA.
