I noticed one member on here that ordered this box. Hoping he can provide some insight as to it's quality. Looks decent, the one thing I noticed right away is the photo shows expensive spring loaded wheels that are a $475+ option on some of the higher end units. What is your thoughts on seeing that style of wheel on this box?

I can get it for $1,549 + $50 shipping to my garage door.

72.875L x 24W x 44H

Lighter than the really high end boxes at 649lbs, but it would work fine for me since I'm just a weekend warrior, a 30" depth box would be too big for my space.

Doesn't look very well packed though,. not much wood there.

Now I just need to decide on whether to get this or the two white Viper 41" boxes.

There are only 6 posts with the word Tactix in them on GJ. There is not a lot of opinion on them in general. Hence lack of posts.

BTW was just on the viper site, the 41 inch white are on sale for 475 each. That might help your decision :rocker:

Really? I don't think I get that. I have 83 and I just joined in December.

In a month? Your's are over a span of a year.

What I meant was if his post were similar to this in the wrong area and so forth they tend to go unnoticed or ignored.

This post doesn't really belong in the gallery it belongs in product review or off topic. IMO

Have you noticed what section you posted in? 61 posts in a month make you seem like a spammer.
Huh? I joined like a week ago. Not sure what you mean.

That doesn't look like a bad layout or price. I've noticed with most of these import boxes they are just rebrands of one another, probably all built in the same factory in China. You might be able to find the same box under a different brand with some reviews.

I'm in NJ.. So you do have this same box? Does the sheet metal feel flimsy?

Thanks John, that looks great. I feel better about this box now that someone else has it and claims it to be a decent value. The finish looks flat, or is it a satin finish? Do the chrome or aluminum handles look like they would come off easily. if I wanted to maybe powdercoat them a color or black? The only thing I have a gripe is the really shallow wide top drawer.

Could you measure the depth of that drawer and the width of the center drawers? Thanks

bumping an old thread, but I have (or had) tactix on my list of tool boxes being considered - just waiting to see what comes up on sale after Christmas. Anyways, I noticed that the tactix website which was pretty low budget to begin with now gives the message "This account has been suspended". Seems that they may have gone belly-up?

For a few more bucks, go witha Montezuma in 24" deep or 30". Better bang for your money.

My experience with Tactix applies to their 3-drawer portable box- http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001TK2ZVW/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I bought mine three years ago at Northern Tool when it was on sale. First box I bought was welded incorrectly so that it rocked from corner to corner when set on a flat surface. I exchanged it for another one and that one has been excellent for me. It's my work tool box and the drawers and lid are opened many times daily and it's held up great over the three years I've had it.

After my experience with the portable box, I don't have a problem with the brand itself

Just picked up one of these 72" Tactix boxes from my local Murdoch's. Was able to get it for the sale price - $1199.99. Very good box for the money. Has 20 drawers and holds 51,000+ cubic inches of storage (which is more than a similar 72" versions from Extreme, Montezuma, Tool Vault, HF, etc.)

They are made in China by Meridian International. http://www.meridianintl.com/website/homepage/index.jsp

My only gripe is the finish. It's not a high gloss finish. It's a satin black powder coat with a bit of texture and is very tough. But in my case, it will actually blend in with my other cabinets a little better since it is not gloss.

I am pulling the wheels and handles off, and using this for a workbench base.
