The work that you two have done is truly inspirational! I have read this thread from the start and have been looking for updates as they come up. Best of luck to both of you Dave and Lin!

Thank you so much, ualexj. That is the greatest honor . To think that we were able to inspire someone, is why we started this thread. Your place looks so good. We love it.

The stain has done quite well. Some of it was old , stain that we had left over from a previous job. As much as four years old. The pigment in that never got mixed as well as the new stuff. So where that was used the color is not as dark. The front of the barn is in the sun all morning and that has bleached down a bit . But overall considering the harsh weather conditions that it is in, it has held up better than we expected

It has been a while since I've last read over your thread, but how close are you to being complete? If I remember right you had only one or maybe two walls left on the outside. Also congrats on making it this far and having your basic design coppied the world over.

Thanks jb. Not sure a job like this would ever be complete, but to answer as best I can, basically I need to put the front doors on and the man door as well. Both are framed out and ready. Small amount of siding left to be done on the small addition in the rear. Need to install the electric service and lighting. Than all the little stuff that makes it the way we want it on the inside.

Have had some health issues this last year, that coupled with a very wet spring and extremely hot and humid , so far , summer. We have not got much done since last fall. I will update with pictures when we do get back to it.

I feel so blessed with the type of feedback we have received on this forum, and our other internet sites.
Thanks again to all.

It is a 2013 MCA edition convertible. He belongs to Lin and she loves him.

If I missed a reply and a thanks to anyone, I am so sorry. For some reason I and my computer don't seem to understand multi-Quote.
All replies mean so much to us. Thanks to everyone.

I'm glad to see this thread bump up to the top again! I hope your health issues will remain manageable, and that you & Lin will be able to enjoy your estate for many more years!
Good looking Mustang, I had to look up the MCA edition. Pretty sweet! :)

Thanks for thinking so kind about us.
The MCA edition Mustang are not very well known. Even at all Ford events it is rare to have anyone who has seen one.
To see more about the car and where we found it, please click on the barn blog link below. Pictures TOO!

Hi to all that are or who , have followed us on here. We have been so fortunate to have had so many nice remarks from so many. We have made many friends over the years of our build and the posting here on the GJ.
But, isn't there always a but? We have a problem that we are struggling with.
The host of our web site( go daddy ) has increased their fees again. They are looking for way more than we feel that we can now afford. More than six times what they charged when we started this thread. As most of you know , all the pictures on this thread are linked from the web site.
If we choose not to pay their fees we will lose the domain and the content on their server.
Must be nice to be able to run a business where you can hold your customers hostage to whatever you feel like charging.
We have not made a final decision yet.
However we have to do something before 10-22-16.
If any one has a work around or any suggestions, please post it.
We are very upset that we may have to lose it ,and have it effect the thread on here , as well as the many other places we have it linked to.
Thanks to you all. Lin and Dave

Hi there, sorry to hear about this challenge however I think there is a way around this problem. Do you have the original versions of the photos on your computer? If so you could upload them to "photobucket" which is a free image hosting site.

I tried to save the photos off your website however they are "GIF" files that will not upload to photobucket. I am sure there is a GIF to JPG file converter that you could use to solve that problem ....

My advice would be to upload all the photos to photobucket and post them here on the forum with the text from your website.

I will offer my help with this project if you are interested... I am pretty busy but I can work pretty quick to get this done for you or at least get you started and then help when needed. Sean

Thanks so much Sean

I looked into photobucket and other image storage sites a few years back , as a way to backup pictures in case this or something like it was to occur. Than they went and changed the way they handled the pictures and I just didn't feel that all the work to have it than changed on me made any sense.

I do have the whole web site on two computers as well as a backup external hard drive.

I may change to a different host and also change the domain name too. I think than I could change the link on the picture to the same picture on the new web site.

Right now I am hoping that Go DADDY realizes that I am seriously going to leave and makes me an offer that I can't refuse.

Like that is going to happen!!!

How much is the Go Daddy charge you need to come up with?
O , We didn't want to make this sound like we are looking for donations. Sorry if it did. That is not why we posted about having to drop Go Daddy. We are just sick and tired of how they are treating us , and every one else.
We are now looking into hosting on another server that we have used for web publishing before.

We will let you know how that works out.

May be some time next week before we get an answer. but will post and update as soon as we can.

Thanks again every one.

I have been using Flickr as a photo host for years and it is simply supper.

If you create an animated gif and upload it to Flickr, the photo page will show the first frame, but the original size will still animate.

Thanks Bib.
Still not sure what we are going to do.
Does it matter what size pictures you download on it?
Had to shut down for a while here. Strong storms, large hail and wind lightning in area, headed your way. Stay safe. 10-12-16 at 8:pM.

Good luck !

It would be such a tragedy to that material. At a minimum, get some online storage from Google, Amazon or one of the other big supplier and copy all of the pictures over there.

photos.google.com make it pretty easy to share and they claim unlimited free storage for "automatically back up photos and videos from a phone, camera, or storage card that's connected to your computer". I don't know the details.

Thanks wiz.
Had a tornado warning here earlier tonight so had to shut down and didn't get to looking into any of the suggested sites.
Always something.

Lin and Dave,
I haven't posted on your thread before, but I've been following along for some time! Your craftsmanship is truly an inspiration and it's been a real education to see and read what you have built and shared. I've told and showed many people about your build!

If nothing else you need to try to back up your photos to a personal drive somewhere. Any idea how many gigs of photos and other files you have on Go Daddy? Is that why they are charging you more? I guess the reason doesn't matter.

FWIW, I've used Hostupon (www.hostupon.com) for several years and they have always provided great service. Their basic plan with unlimited storage and bandwidth is just $3.95 per month. And if you start a new plan there they will transfer your existing site free of charge. Doing that may even preserve the links to all of your photos and content since most of the links are url based, and not dependent on IP. You'd probably have to talk to them directly though. During the day you can start a chat with one of their tech people right on the main page of their website.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!
