75k mr maxx exhaust question

Hi All,

Finally back to getting the garage situated, been close to 2 years.

Anyhow, I am buying the parts for the exhaust. I noticed the actual exhaust pipe is only 1.5", does this allow for a pvc pipe like some NG or propane furnaces?

VENTING
A – GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS AND
REQUIREMENTS
NOTE: The vent is a passageway, vertical or nearly so, used to
convey flue gases from an appliance, or its vent connector, to the
outside atmosphere. The vent connector is the pipe or duct that
connects a fuel-gas burning appliance to a vent or chimney.
Unit heaters must be vented in compliance with all local codes or
requirements of the local utility, the current standards of the
(American) National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1 or (Canada) CSA
B149.1 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, and the
following instructions.

A metal stamped/extruded transition is supplied with this certified
unit. It must not be modified or altered and must be installed on
the outlet of the induced draft blower assembly prior to the
installation of the vent or vent connector. Failure to comply with
this requirement will void the certification of the unit by the
approval agencies. All joints shall be secured with at least two
corrosion resistant screws. All joints must be checked for gas
tightness after installation.

It sounds like you didn't get the metal stamped/extruded transition
that is supplied with this certified unit.

www.northerntool.com sells the vent kit as a complete package, 99 bux
It's probably the best bet to go, I priced alot of it at grainger and it was at least that much.

I did not get the transition pipe

Does the transition pipe connect right to the exhaust pipe? I bought the 45000 btu big maxx heater and the horizontal accesory vent kit. The vent kit adapter (3" to 4") slides right over the transition piece attached to the blower with a 1/4 inch gap all the way around. This can't be right it should be a tight fit. I am wondering if i am missing this so called transition pipe. What does it look like? I have a small piece that I can pull of the back of the blower but it is to small to connect to anything in the provided vent kit.

Got the same problem David. Got the exhaust kit from Northern and the tapered pipe is about a 1/2" dia too big. Doesn't make sense. Still looking for a answer. Guess I will be calling the factory.

There is a vent adapter p/n# 60130 for the 45k p/n# 60140 for the 75k. I was short that item with the heater. Will be ordering it tomorrow.
