After a bit of investigation the oil leak on my Cummins is the timing cover, looks like a two day job to do it right, plus a chunk of money for parts. Can’t wait for that. How is your progress going?

Inner or outer cover? Outers leak cause bolts loosen up. Actually a really easy job, and most chassis(fl) you can do with radiator installed. Balancer falls off, remove bolts, slide cover off. Need a seal installer to put front main in on assembly
My clutch systems 100% done, and hope by day my cooling system will be 100 % done

Glad things are moving along for you. I'm waiting on parts.

Thanks guys. This week I need to put a few minor details on the cooling system, hook up the power steering returns and then I can finally start on the wiring. Make all my cables from scratch then clean up the engine bay harness. I take it I should run a 40 amp relay o the key on fuel Solinoid wire, as I know they eat some juice. The crank one I’ll just tee into the fender starter solinoid I have controlling the starter

Busy week doing an expensive conversion at work so cummins in brain
60k Isc boat anchor. Whole cooling system rusted so badly the block rotted through by the liner seat, junk!
Then the Eaton 6 speed behind its been blown up 3 times in 60k, and currently the main shaft bearings screaming for the last three weeks prior to finally loosing the engine, so putting a rto 10 speed in it

Well it almost done under hood, needs fuel lines and the suoerduty 40 gallon tank installed still but waiting on some stuff
Runs out of a bucket quite well. All wiring under hood done except for maybe a few gauges once I figure out exactly what I’m doing for guages and senders as I’m at a cross road and don’t know which path to take.
Both shifters are made, throttle cable rigged. Not the happiest with it, may need a longer arm on the pump for more pedal travel and easier pedal travel, but that may wait till it gets driven some to see How it is
Have good clutch engagement and release, moved forward in shop under own power minus fact steering wheel not hooked up as myu joint for it still hasn’t arrived

Looks good. What did you use for the turbo drain? I couldn't use the front port in the block with my ford motor mount. I had to drill and weld the elbow in the pan.

About level. Didn’t really want it draining into oil level either

ok, make sense. My problem is, I'm using the destroked mount. You went cummins specialists mounts. I didn't want it draining into the oil level either, but If you're pulling grades or off roading, it's going to be sitting in that tube. :eyecrazy:

Redid my throttle, required mounting my fuel pre filter remote on the engine mount, but happier with pedal effort and throw
Shifters both made and work well, trans tunnel cover half made at work with the press brake and almost ready for fitting
Throttle pedal is a ih4700 electronic pedal with springs and tps gutted and modified for longer travel

Having gauge situation figured out for which path to take down. Making it slick and awesome. Home brew magnetic sensor mounted to bell housing to read off ring gear teeth
Hint hint heater controls in this non ac summer driven truck now mounted in glovebox with half glovebox reinstalled. Just big enough for paperwork

Corn harvest getting in way at night a lot
Underhood finished except fuel line hooking up and some sender wiring. Interior/cab is now main focus. Exhaust is ran with 4” to axle with a banks monster muffler installed, have to wait for fuel tank install for tailpipe fab

Guages is depressing, everything plastic breaking
Good news tint guy came out and pimped it out nicely. All carpet going from interior and it has it added to doors and kick panels over the years, as well as back firewall

is she rolling coal yet?
It’s getting there, rehabbing gauges to look oem, so waiting on some items, and my Superduty cab and chassis tank still not back yet.
One harvest getting in the way also
My to do list is pretty small at this point and in a week or two will fall together nicely. Isn’t just an engine swap as it is a whole truck redo

Is that with the factory engine rake (5-8 degrees)? I would highly suggest running a line straight down to the pan. A flat oil return is a risk and even more so if oil is forced to run uphill. Even light back pressure can push oil through the seals.

That’s cool! Passenger side steering is making me all looney looking at it!

Aussie truck so right hand drive.

Someone did a really nice job on that one, getting the body proportions right.

No wanting to hijack this topic I felt the swap from a small block Chev V8 to the Cummins related to this topic. More photos of that event along with a few others over in Sheddwellers.
