Installing this welder outlet is starting to be a real PITA. I can not find staples for 8/2 NM-B anywhere. How do you all attached 8/2 to studs? Thanks again.

If 9/16" wide NM staples are too small, try these.
Home Depot, Gardner Bender service entrance staples, 3/4"

Why do you ask? Does the welder circuit size change the staple to clamp the cable?

I went to Lowe's to buy 10/2 but found the 8/2 costed $2 more, figured might as well. I'll be installing a 30 amp breaker for a couple reasons - I have a 30 amp breaker already (came with the panel) and I ran my machines on a dryer outlet for years.

Edit - Link to my thread asking about wire size and planned use of circuit.

Because some people incorrectly think that #8 NM-b is good for 50a.

I see you got the wire size figured out already so disregard.

I appreciate you looking out for me, I don't want to burn my shop down.

But... do you know the appropriate size staple to use for 8/2 NM-b?

I actually had this same question like a week ago. I’m going with 8/2 romex as well for my welder circuits and was annoyed with the staples for it. None of the packages at Home Depot said for specifically 8/2 nmb. I ended up buying the type like listed above with the two nails on either side. Except I bought the 3/4” ones. I know the label for them says 14/3, 12/3, 10/3 but they seem to fit nice over the 8/2 so I don’t think it’ll be an issue.

Do the clamps cinch down snug on the wire? The wire is supposed to be loose inside of the clamp to allow the cable to shift around. If you don't mind, could you jiggle the wire for me and lemme know? Would save me buying a pack and testing it out. Thank you.

I’m actually at the same step you are. I just laid out all the boxes in my garage and am going to start the rough in this weekend. If it’s like you’re saying the actual wire is a little thicker than the height of the plastic so it probably would cinch down as you’re saying if you weren’t mindful of it. I was just thinking these would be nicer and any of the regular wire staples I was looking at either were obviously too small or way too big looking
