Do they make 8.5' wide garage doors ?

Do to an existing foundation, my architect speced out an 8' wide door. But they are just too narrow. A 9' door will not fit.

I don't thing my suburban will fit though an 8' door !

Ouch, even a 9' wide door will be scrapping bugs off the side mirrors of a Suburban when going in and out . :)

I just checked with Home Depot for giggles and custom doors can be ordered from them it appears (and I am sure other companies too)

I "fake" ordered a plain steel panel 8.5 in. wide x 7' 0" tall door with exterior handle lock. Almost $900.00 uninstalled. I did not keep clicking on the order enough to see if all tracks/hardware was included in the $900 though.

I have 9 ft doors and a Tahoe...I can fit it in the door with about 6 inches of clearance on either side...at least that's what it feels like.

Yes, you can order them in any size.

There's no way. I have 8' doors and they are hell. My Toyota Tacoma makes it in with just a few inches off each mirror. You could probably fit a Suburban in, but you'd have to fold the mirrors in and coat the entire thing in butter.

8.5' may still require you to fold the mirrors.

Isn't 8 foot the max vehicle width in most states?
That is 3 inches per side.
Tight, yes.
But doable.

I recall 102" as max width, at least for trailers.

GM specs the Suburban as 80.5" without mirrors

80.5 without mirrors. Hmmmm, now. Lets say the OP has a 2012 model Suburban. Those mirrors look to be sticking out at least 9 in. maybe even 10. So... I will use 9 in. for guesstimates here. :D

80.5" wide suv + 18" of mirrors = 98.5 over all width.

8'5" wide door opening = 101 " - 98.5 = 2.5" opening remaining. Center up the suv in the opening so we divide by 2.5 by 2. = 1.125 inches remaining open from door jamb to mirror's edge. That will be some good driving skills needed, especially when backing out. Good luck OP
