8' Garage Door Openers

Hello, I was wondering where in the world can you find 8' garage door openers. I can find 7' openers, then get the extension. But, I honestly would rather just get a straight 8' opener and not have to deal with an extension. It's more of a OCD thing, and not wanting to add the extension. :)

Every time I search, I get the opener, then get the extension. I know they make them, because both of my current openers are 8' openers. One of my openers, a Liftmaster is currently on the fritz. The logic board is done, I can't program it with any remote, now this morning I noticed the motor was starting to make a grinding noise.

Thanks for any help.

From a manufacturer's perspective I can see why they make them that way- manufacturing cost, inventory, etc.

Sometimes you just can't have your cake AND eat it too!

Maybe it's time for a fresh look- like a jack-shaft opener.

I have more questions than answers.
You will need to go to a real garage door company. Most companies will only install solid one peice rails for the height of the door. Expect to pay more when you get much higher quality.

Box stores sell the low hanging fruit.

You need a real garage door company, not just a commercial one. Residential opener rails are available for 7', 8' and up to 10' doors. Jackshaft openers have a place in the market, but they are not the best fit for every possible application.

Linear makes some. Here's one model, LSO50-2T1KB8. Pretty good openers, just installed one yesterday for my niece.

I called a local garage door installer. They have the 8' openers in stock. Looks like I'll go that route. I would like a higher quality opener. I plan to replace the doors at some point. They're insulated, but they're the flimsy bare bones insulated doors. I really like the insulated door on my detached garage.
