Anyone who knows there stuff with lighting have a good reason to stay away from this $40 light? I'm thinking of getting 12 for a 2000sqft garage.

I have the HO of that fixture and the downside is the handling of the 8' tubes. Even though they are now making T12 that meets the DOE requirements I'd go with the 4 tube T8 8' fixture.

If you're going with Home Depot and want a plain old strip light, I'd recommend this one: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Lithonia...rescent-Strip-Light-C-2-32-120-GESB/100543144 It's also a Lithonia fixture which is a good brand, but it's a four foot fixture that uses two T8 lamps. T8 is the way to go these days, the larger diameter T12 lamps are old technology and on their way out. Also, four foot lamps are a lot easier to deal with. You can fasten the four foot fixtures together end to end to make an eight foot fixture if you like.

I just purchased the tandem version of this light last week. I installed four of them in a 23x18 room and the lighting is excellent. The ballasts are made by accupro.

We scrap ton of those here in Quebec because they have not enough lumen output for there wattage... Stay away from that. Go with T8 or T5ho depending of your ceiling height...Or led...
