Looking for some help finding a quality 8" variable speed bench grinder. It is just for home use, but I like quality and don't mind spending a reasonable amount of money on this item. ($500+?) Anyways, I like the idea of variable speed for sharpening things like my lawnmower blades yet can still turn up the speed to do some decent grinding when need be.
Right now it seems the best I can find is the Delta GR450 ($190) but the reviews are really bad and it scares me. I love the idea of quick change wheels, but the reviewers all seem to think this is why it vibrates and makes so much noise.
Anyone know of such a unit that I'm looking for, preferably North American made?? I've looked at baldor but it doesn't appear they offer a 8" variable speed unit.

thanks in advance!

I have had a Craftsman 8" variable speed for about 5yrs now. I it set up with a Blue- Point multitool and have put a lot of hours on it I have never had a problem. Still runs smooth. I still see this Grinder on sale down in the states for $125ish. Good luck.
Regards John
