You'l have to remove that "Looking for a Plomb 3061" from your posts now. ;)

I think you now need to create a tool board with a Plomb logo at the top, something like Catfishdan made a little while ago.

Haha :) DOEs are definitely the hardest ones to find.
Roy, great accomplishment! Congrats. One of the things that keeps me coming back to this board is the community that you mentioned. Great bunch of folks.
Couldn't agree more.
Thanks

I had about 2 mins to snap the pics before I had to tend to the children. Should have some freetime in about 15 years when they don't want to talk to me anymore.

The mark of a good storyteller. Made me read the whole post when all I really wanted to know was who found the 3061!

:rocker:

Well, I know it's hard for you Primarily Plomb guys to admit, but there are other vintage OEM's out there!

Haha. I have my next goal set but more as a layup at this point. I am trying to reach 1,000 unique Plomb tools which I am under 15 away right now with the above additions. I may have a thread first tomorrow! Stay tuned. "Full Set Friday" will be making a come back!

Haha. I have never been called a good story teller. I am much more of a "to the point" person.

I had no clue a 3061 was that hard to find. I bought it 3 years ago at the Portland swap meet, then proceeded to give it to Smokeshow for his wall - which he gave me something in return that I wasn't expecting.

I'm glad I did. Some things are better to part with so as to allow another to enjoy it more than I would have. There's no doubt it would still be sitting at the bottom of a drawer of Plomb wrenches I haven't found time for.

Congrats on completing an amazing collection!

Didn't even see the second part of this. That's the beauty of tool collecting. So many sub genres either type based, OEM based, period based, and heck even sized base. There is no reason to ever be bored. The best thing I have ever done with collecting is focused and set goals on what I want to accomplish. I thought it would make it less enjoyable but it has done just the opposite. In the words of Chris Hogan, " I am focused and not finished"

First off thank you for trading it off. The 3061 is definitely hard to find. You are more apt to find one that has had Plomb ground off and then stamped with proto than a legit Plomb one in my experience. I know another collector who is 1 wrench away from completing the pebble wrench set and is also short the 3061.

Ya know, I saw that 3061 sitting on Smokes wall, and the first thing out of my mouth was "I know who would kill for that."

Looking good, glad to have helped.

Congratulations, Roy! How long did it take first to last?

Take couple of weeks off to reflect before starting some new adventure.

What’s in the future? Blackhawk?

It took almost 4 years to complete.
There is 2 focuses next both Plomb.
1. I am 1 3065 smooth circa 1942 left from completing my combos, DBEs, and DOEs set
2. I am less than 15 Plombs to have 1,000 unique pieces of Plomb on the wall not counting war finish, or date codes. This will be an amazing milestone as well that few collectors have achieved in Plomb.

I am also looking at upgrading my display to plywood similar to smokes set up as many have mentioned the weight is getting to be too much for pegboard.
Yes! There’s more than just my 3061! Congrats Roy that wall is beautiful!

A very nice collection well done. :rocker:

I was a little sad that my last post was gone in only a few hours and it had so few views, but alas it was only one wrench that I had never seen before, nothing like a large collection like yours. Again well done.:)
