My buddy works on MRI machines. But he uses AMPCO adjustables....$15 at the swap meet. lol

Exactly. MRI mechanics use BeCu, not Ti.
Look at the Berylco adjustable I posted on the show your adjustable wrench thread. They're non-magnetic.

$400 if you look around online. But still a hefty price!

Titanium used to be cheap a few years ago. When the USSR collapsed they dumped TONS of it onto the market. I remember when titanium crowbars were around 20-30 bucks!

Now it's either VERY expensive, or it's a **** alloy, or it's unavailable.

There are some amazing new aluminum alloys that are quite hard. But even good old 7075 would make a decent wrench. Maybe not for a mechanic shop, but certainly for working on MRI machines.

I thought Beryllium Copper tools were safer to use around MRI machines. Ampco uses Aluminum Bronze for a lot of their tools now. From what I understand, the Aluminum bronze alloys can have a very small amount of iron in the alloys that make them less safe around high powered magnets.

On the other hand, if your friend is buying older Ampco tools, they may be BeCo.

ive got w-141-r ampco ratchet that says its safe to use on MRI machines. not sure what its composition is.
