Would these be too bright? My shop is 36X20. I will have 4 rows of 4 ft bulbs parallel with the 36 ft length. Five 2 bulb lights in each row. Two rows 4 ft. off center of room on one switch and a row 2 ft off each wall over workbenches and on separate switches. Ceiling will be white metal. Walls are white upper 8 ft and gray 4 ft on bottom. I want lots of light! Menards has sylvania 8000K sky white lights on sale this week for 39.99 per case of 12. That is 30.00 dollars off regular price. I need help choosing bulbs. Too many choices for me.

I think that may be a little too blue. I have been researching the same for the past weeks and in my opinion 5000K is the best balance

I've been using these bulbs from Menard's.

They are plenty bright for me. I have a similar paint scheme that you have and a white ceiling. I'm using strip lights which allow the entire ceiling be the reflector.

I want (and have ) plenty of light. I believe some guys go completely overboard worrying about lighting colors and temps. Unless you are doing something specific, that needs that type of lighting, I'd buy something normally available.

My garage is lit by 13 6500K CFLs (100w equivalent) - 6 surface mount fixtures with 2 bulbs each, plus one in a ceiling fan (not counting the 2 4' strips over the workbench. I really like the amount of light and the color of the light - especially since my garage has no windows.

I use the 8000k skywhites in my garage an like them a lot.

The CRI is very high which means they are closer to full spectrum sunlight than a lot of other bulbs (Even bulbs at 6500K with a low CRI). I don't really notice any blue tinting. A bulb with 8000k and a low CRI it might look really blue, these don't.

The lumen output is a little lower than most other bulbs... thats typical with high CRI florescent.

Good price! I hope they aren't end of lifing the product
