I'm thinking 14 gage would probably stop the deflection, but 12 gage would be more in tune to the prices they're charging.

Just for the record, which company do you work for, Matco or Mac? I have over 350 pounds in some of my KRL drawers and never have worried about it. I have a comment on the hammers in a cardbord box remark though, does the cardboard stiffen the drawer enough to prevent your hammers from falling thru?

SO catalog shows Epiq, Master, and Classic series drawers are 18 ga. Heritage the front and back of drawers are 20 ga and drawer body is 18ga. Bluepoint boxes drawers are all 20ga.

Difference between Epiq and Master series, on the spec page in the catalog, is drawer and corner trim, drawer retention, and the Epiq has heavier duty stiffeners and casters.

I was kinda wondering what was going on. I just spent two hours this afternoon on the Rock'n Roll Cab Express picking out a new box. We have a room full of Listas in my lab and I was still so impressed by the quality of the new Snap-On cabs. By the way, if you roll a drawer out on an Epiq and look underneath you will see full width stiffeners. I inspected every square inch and these things should be in the Guggenheim.

In the end I am debating between the 68" and 84" Epiq. Much like the OP, I am not interested in the Power Bank nor the Power House. This will be in my new shop at home and theft will not be an issue. I did select the stainless top and the power top. I selected flat black with red drawer pulls to match the new floor (either Race deck or Epoxy). I didn't purchase the clear powder coat either which was an extra that seemed unnecessary since my box will never move.

I will tell you that I was so amazed at how solid the locker felt. so much so that I am contemplating purchasing a riser just so i can add one!!!

Buy the Epiq, it's a great price and with the double rebate for Epiq boxes you are getting a great deal.

Good Luck!!

Overkill is good.
Yeah, but 12ga is what .105 or so that would more than double the weight of each drawer. Thats unnecessary, waste of metal and excess weight. I would think 16ga would be more than enough, but also feel it wouldnt add much over the 18ga that is used.

I'll split the difference with you and say 14ga. :D

Just ordered?? My SO man is telling me box deliveries are running 6 to 8 weeks on bigger boxes - I ordered Jan 9, so I'm not expecting mine to show up 'till mid-March.

I ordered my side lockers and hutch Jan 10. I was told 3 weeks, but its been nearly 4 and no word yet. 6-8 weeks is a bit of a buzz kill.

Yeah, As much as I want it to get here, I'm forcing myself to be patient and biding my time with some other planning / reorganizing the shop to have a space for it and not be scrambling around like an idiot when it arrives and there's no parking space for it. I honestly would not be surprised if it runs over a week or 2 more since I ordered a custom drawer configuration, too.

my 76", lockers, and hutch took 3 months, and my workcenters took an additional month, but i'm guessing the color didnt help the time line. My 84" took about 5 weeks. I'm still waiting on the top for it though. apparently they forgot to put it on originally.

Lol I about **** myself until I got to the last line. I was gonna tell you my dealer is in MD and could have at least knocked a couple grand off for you. Sounds like you made out pretty well though.

Since we are on the topic of Epiq additions, has anybody seen the end cab for an Epiq yet? No images on snap ons sight. All I have is pictures of the parts diagram. I still went ahead and ordered one, sight unseen, (I needed somewhere to put my fridge) along with 2 lockers and the hutch. Should be good for 166" of shiny goodness.

I hope the build quality on that Epiq is better than my KRL. I gotta keep my heavier tools like hammers in cardboard trays because I'm afraid of dropping a hammer on that thin sheet metal drawer bottom.

I seriously laughed out loud at this post ^^^^
Are you for real????

Only a small picture in the box configurater web page. Looks pretty generic. I think the important parts to know are in that drawing you posted. Looks to be that same design as the locker. I really liked the idea of the shelves also on sliders on the locker (that what I meant in earlier post - not a side cab).

that sounds like a sweet set up. good price too. its all in the trade in and discounts the dealer gives you. i was thinking about the locker in the future i dont like the hutch or adding anything on top of the box, but it would look funny with the locker being taller than the box by itself. right now im going to have alot of space to fill in the new box. what color are you getting

Green Mica with the standard trim....I'm hoping I like it as much as I THINK I will, 'cause I really hope this will be my last box....ever...but I said that last time, I know:lol:

I like the hutch for being able to leave all my stuff on it (books / tools / small parts) and close the lid....Leaving that stuff out on the shop benches while I'm off doing other things (which I do many times a day) usually means someone else comes along and mixes it all up.

I was thinking the same thing, but all you gotta do is open the door on the locker and appreciate the incredibly solid heft. It feels like the door on a gun safe. I was so impressed. But much like you I didn't order a hutch. No need for a lockable riser in my home shop, no one to steal anything. Regardless I am still trying to figure a way to justify a couple of lockers.

Do you guys think that because they come with a set of casters you could bolt two together as a stand alone 2 door locker  That thing would be awesome!!!!

I'd bet you it would not be hard to make work. Thinking about how all the others attach to the side of each respective roller / top chest, I'd imagine you could do it with a thin filler strip to close the gap where the little hangers (assuming Epiqs have them like all others) stick out against each other. Might even get away with a strip of thicker rubber like conveyor belting. Then just bolt through the provided side bolt holes.

worst part about waiting weeks for a tool box is that you begin to think. thinking about a side locker now. first i thought it would look stupid with no hutch but a member posted a pic of his and it dont look that bad.

They do this on purpose so you add more to your order lol

I just ordered the 68" EPIC small compared to you guys but still an EPIC. Not much about epics on this site just random threads and of course everyone says you are wasting your $ so to say at some point lol. My dealer said it should only be a couple weeks? I ordered it in royal blue.

I'm now at week 7 of waiting for mine....the only thinking I have been doing is trying to get "ready" for the new organization - wondering how I might arrange things now that I will have some wider drawers and I bought a pliers rack to try that instead of just spreading them all flat. I never had the time to spend on arranging a new box like I do now, what with the work and kids / family stuff. I think this will be the first time I don't just unpack the box / locker stuff and throw all my stuff hastily in it.
