I'm actually impressed at the restraint..... Seems your purchases are something you can use soon and fit a need. Good deal!

Hopefully you can find them a good spot to reside in the shop and not add any horizontal surface issues.....

Does the mower continue to operate as expected? It would be good to have a success story that keeps giving...............

The mower works ok, still runs a little hot, and the little PM alternator on it barely keeps the pto engaged. If the battery is low, pulling the pto on drops voltage to the system and the run solenoid drops out. So combination of weak charging and a little low battery. The Z482 came with an alternator, i need to look at that and see if the brackets swap. That would be an easy fix if it does.

Decent news on the mower.... candidly, I would opt for the super easy solution -- run a trickle charger on it. And/or get a new battery, but that may be best suited for spring. (Ive have poor luck with some batteries over the winter. Some times I will remove from the mower and store in the heated garage)

Fix the alternator/bracket when some of the other items are cleared off the list in the shop.... i.e. daily driver Audi??

Just my two cents from the bleachers....

LOL!! For anyone one else's garage, (unless you actually go there to help) I consider sitting in the bleachers... we can whoop and holler all we want, but it's their show....circus, rodeo, trenches, loading dock, etc.... We're just the fans cheering or yelling at the ref....

Altho I sure enjoy looking at garage stuff a heck of a lot more than sports.....

Oh i already put the charger on it. Frankly, i am getting tired of keeping the mower on the pad right in front of the shop door so that i can put the charger on it for a 1/2 hour before i use it. There's something to be said for pull cable to shut off diesels. That stupid solenoid pulls 30A! To stay running! And they put a joke of a permanent magnet generator on it. Somebody wasn't thinking too hard on that one.

I have pretty much decided not to get back on the Audi until i have more items knocked off the list, like cleaning the shop up and getting big tools reorganized. Right now, i can shove a lot of stuff under the car and not think about it while i clear space. When the weather changes, i want to be more ready for the heating season. I got my buddy at work to finish welding up my new squares, so i bring them home today and i am officially ready to get cracking on the new boiler.

Last few days i've been focused on getting the server back up, i checked this morning and i have 8700 emails at the ISP that haven't been downloaded. I was almost back up last night, but the screws for the hard drives hit the rails and don't let the caddies back into the chassis. So amazon again... rinse repeat.

I also got the wideband controller last night. FINALLY from Toronto to my Michigan home, only 3 weeks....

The kid is getting antsy about doing the tune, although i don't know why, since he lost his job AGAIN. i can't even remember how many that is.

Just this morning, finished deleting 9000 emails on the ISP, and ~ 30K on the home mail server. Some exponential stuff going on. It's still settling down. There's some residual funkiness. It was offline since July 5. Not much fun.

I'm wfh today so catching up. Lunchtime meeting. :(

You really need to setup some email rules to handle the worst stuff. I have about a dozen that I use and I knock out half of what used to come through before it ever hits my imap server. I also use spam assassin to get rid of everything that is truly junk, I think that costs me about $36 a year per domain (that will handle unlimited email accounts on the domain), but without it, I would have to work for pennies an hour to do what it does, of course I have a dozen domains or more (for some reason, I can’t seem to keep track).

I do use spam assassin. That's just the load the account receives. When it goes offline, the server loses its mind on restart. There's some recursive issue I haven't figured out yet.

I managed to find some of the mail in the trash. Not sure how it got there. I might have to rebuild this from scratch. we shall see. I bought some bolt bins and picking up the last of the bolts off the floor. Should be able to move some equipment around tonight.

I really need to focus on the big issues, not fix things constantly. I get it, i buy old stuff, and sometimes needs repair, but i can't afford to buy new!!! I really need to be doing this as business i guess. UGH.

My local forklift place called me back. New tires pressed on are ~$300 installed. The tires on it now are completely shot. While i'm doing bearings i'm doing it all. I am not going back into this thing in my lifetime.

The part that is so disgusting to me is it broke RIGHT when i was getting things moved. Now it's broken, in the middle of the free space in the shop. I have NO choice but to fix it right now. I can't even get the other one in the shop to move it. So this is priority #1 right now.

I have also requested labor day week off, so theoretically if this can get wrapped up in the next couple days, i can get back on schedule this fall.

My two cents..... This is why business tend to buy new or very late model equipment as the down time costs them more than the costs to repair. I get it that us hobbyist cannot buy at that level......

As an example, a buddy of mine is in the mowing business. He mows more than 80 yards, every week!! One man business. He has two mowers and buys a new one every year. One is his spare and the new one is his primary. In peak mowing season, he cannot tolerate being down.

Regardless, hopefully the bearing repair goes well ..... (it won't, but expect that...) and the forklift will be back up and rolling. At least it broke where you have access to fix it, right?

Ok, so i have been too busy to update until now. Managed to get the drive plates off the wheels with some persuasion, and as i unbolted the plates, on each wheel, about a quart of water poured out. Obviously this thing sat outside for a long time. Of course bearings are all shot. I also scheduled a tire change for later this week. So here's the proof...

I like your lifting bracket for the jack, never seen it before, we just leaned the mast back and placed a block
under it and then leaned it forward to raise the wheels off the ground. That also tested the seals in the tilt cylinders.
Your method is a lot safer, but we placed blocks under the frame as a safety, if we remembered. That is a nasty mess
you have there.
