Well,

I think it's clear my comment did not have the effect it intended and was not helpful. That's not my intention and I don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable in their own thread.

You deserve the audience that appreciates what you do and what you offer. It appears that that is no longer me. I don't want to remain an unwelcome, negative Nancy. Thanks for the inspiration and best of luck with everything. Seriously.

Noah

Not much of an update, but i'm on vacation this week, burning up an excessive amount of days off. Today is first day in the shop, i've been fighting my home server cluster for a couple of days. Lost 3 years of emails and have to rebuild from scratch. I'm working on clearing out clutter and if i get that far, scrap some stuff and organize.

Speaking of cluster... work... ugh.

At least i don't need to wear pants this week... :ROFLMAO:

That ***** on the emails!

Hope you're able to make some progress clearing out clutter.

The burner has taken a back seat to other things this spring and developments at work may slow production down. I don't want to say more until i have more idea what's happening. I'll explain when i can.

Thank you, we are just trying to get caught up from the winter. The lawn mower is working well-ish (it needs to warm up the fuel before heavy loading) which i believe is a result of some minor blockage or a weak lift pump. The gas tank is not serviceable. I will probably rebuild the lift pump first. I have barely set foot in the garage.

I built a 175" screen for the basement and am in beginning stages of home theater build out.
Also working on rebuilding the whole homelab network rack. All things that are good for bad weather.
As the weather gets nicer, i'm more interested in the outdoors/workshop.

The yard is full of stuff that needs to go to the scrap yard. I will get back to the shop this spring. I'm just enjoying my time away from it after a year and a half of frustration.

Just checked omnisource prices. $150/ton here also. Baffles me how absolutely everything can double in prices in the last couple years of BIDENflation, and scrap goes nowhere. Omni is the 800lb gorilla here. I have to drive almost 100 miles to take it in to a non-affiliate.

Friends, now that things are more solidified, i can announce i have just been promoted to manager of my new group at the company i have been working for nearly 19 years. This is what i implied previously - that things would possibly be changing. Unfortunately it's a move away from design, into a development role. As a result some of the tools i use will go away, and i will have to develop new processes and workflows to get things done in the garage. May include new tools, may result in delays while the new role will take me away for some travel occasionally.
And of course the reduction in free time. Anyways, i wanted to let everyone in on things.

As far as a shop update, i've been in the shop minimally. As we have had a few days in the 70s this spring, it's been tough to go out in the shop when the weather turns. It's going down to 25F tonight!
Not a great motivator. I have lots of vacation to take, so i'll be taking off weeks at a few points this summer. Hopefully to catch up on things and get better positioned for next season.

Anyways, hope you're all doing well. Peace.

Thank you all. It seems more job stability for now, satisfaction remains to be determined. You all know my stance on EV's. I can divorce myself/compartmentalize enough to do the job. The problems would start if optics determined/demanded i needed to put my **** in one for job retention. And since we're putting the laundry out... Here's how much a petrol-head i remain...

Out-freaking-standing! Congrats!!!

I'm confused. Are you referring to tools at work going away?

Sorry to hear about your weather. It's been nice here; we had a warm spell or two kind of early, but it cooled off again.

Yes, my workflow currently is design parts on Creo 3.0, which i have used for over 20 yrs and export drawings into sheetcam and plasma out. I will lose access to all of that. So i need to develop a new workflow to make parts. My standard of quality is too high to just whack things out with a torch by hand.

We are being given a nice warm weekend this coming one. I've already got a lot planned. We'll see how it goes.
Have a great day!

I just don't get why they can't make a run with plug in hybrids, seems silly to think everyone is going to be all electric all the time. At least make that the way forward not eliminating combustion engines.
