Are all those pieces making just one or are there two being made? I was thinking of some type of clamp, but I still can't figure it out.

And the completed tool.

And what it does.

And it works awesome. I don't even have to get off the tractor after placing a barrel. I just used it to move 8 full 55gal barrels of motor oil. They were in the way for the big project that starts tomorrow.

I didn't know what it was from the first picture, I was thinking maybe a bender of some sorts but I didn't think that was right, after the second picture I got it. Pretty ingenious man, well done. So what is the big project?

Curious about 8 55 gallon barrels of motor oil. I'm guessing you are/plan to use it for a waste oil burner.

Over $500 in lvl's and concrete sacks on site. Still have to get some more lumber before i can get to rocking. I also have a trip to the upper peninsula to swap a timing belt on a car in there too. Might not post construction photos until late weekend.

Back from the U.P. Mission accomplished, timing belt change on a TDI. Put a new exhaust on the tractor this afternoon, getting ready to drill post holes and pour concrete. I'll post pics later.

I'm sorry, there's not much to show yet. Dancing around the raindrops, we poured two punch pads of concrete tonight. Nothing to photo but holes in the ground. Hope the rain lets up later this week. Rain tomorrow.

And assembling the corner posts. Using lamination method. 3 2x6 treated spliced together with a std 12ft 2x6. Used construction adhesive between all layers. Drying on the floor. After they are dry, they go in the corner holes to locate the opening height. After that the other hunks go up.

Well the crappy weather finally is over and i got all the pole locations marked. Getting the site ready to drill the rest of the holes. Corners are placed and backfilled. Cleaning the site up and then drill.

Had decent weather yesterday but one of the tractor tires decided to spring a leak. Spent the day wrestling a 700lb loaded spare tire.

Its going to be a full length leanto 20ft wide. We have needed a space for farm equipment for a long time. It all sits outside right now.
Except the baler. I insisted that sit inside from day one.

The process is to locate the hole, drop the augur down and drill cautiously until it starts to jump a bit. I'll play it by ear a little bit and if i think it will pull out a small rock, i'll let it churn on it for a little while before i pull the augur and hand dig. It'll pull out rocks as big as your fist or a little bigger without too much trouble. If it hits a really big one, it'll usually either skip over or break the bolts on the augur or driveshaft. In this case, we were skipping over a rock and it sounded like it might grab an edge and pull it up, so i let it go. My son was holding the augur upright then he let it drop to the side a bit, and just then it grabbed the underside of the rock or whatever, jumped further into the hole, and twisted the mount right off all in one shot. Happened so fast we didn't know what happened until the damage was done.

It broke all four welds on that mount, and twisted the i-beam. I cut the last 2 or 3 inches off the i-beam, to get it straight, and spent an hour grinding all the broken welds off. Then got out the biggest 6011 rods i had, turned the welder up a lot, and ran DC+ for deep penetration and put a couple pounds into it. I also added a brace on the end to try and slow down the twisting.

Next job is to setup the scaffold, find 10ft on the end poles with a water level, then set lvl beams.

Got a little distracted yesterday, it was raining most of the day, but instead of making more poles i got a honeydo done. Made more shelves for the pantry. The wife wanted a burrito shell shelf. I added another in the dry goods area. She was happy, so today was a shop day.

What's the story on the older full-size Bronco slowly sinking into the ground? Future project?

Ha! It's not sinking into the ground. It rolls. I'm poor at trimming. We bought this in Texas a long time ago, thanks to OldSoldier, who scouted it out for me. It is an 85 XLT 300 I6 w/stick, loaded. Weird combo. We drove it for a while, and then it developed a rod knock on a trip. I got it back home, and we decided to do a swap on it. It's going to get the the powertrain from my white truck, 6.9 turbo / ZF5. Typical Texas truck, great sheetmetal, interior/rubber shot and faded. Lived it's whole life in the Austin area. It would be my wife's preferred transport, but it would rot in a hurry here without special caretaking.

300 w/stick sounds like a mighty fine combo to me, but can't touch the torque of a diesel. I'm assuming you can swap it in using all (most?) factory parts.

Yes, its not a common swap, but its been done enough.
The thought was to get the rpms down as much as possible and loaf along
at 80mph with lots of torque in reserve. The engine in the white truck is a beast.
Turbos really make 6.9's do well. I've towed over 15,000 lbs with that truck.

Started saturday morning setting up scaffolding. Then made a longish trip to menards to get more lumber. There was a lady in the shed parked in front of me who was totally unprepared for being there. Mad at everybody, wanted her hand held, getting floppy soffit material in a short bed truck. 10ft long, 6ft bed, not the best planner. Wanted immediate assistance, wouldnt move, yadda yadda. 6 idling trucks behind her, etc. Finally gets help, then pulls out of the shed and parks again blocking everyone. I finally just squeezed out with a half inch to spare. World dont revolve round her. Sometimes i hate menards. Anyway, we got the lumber home, cut some rigging for the scaffold, then made a water level to set pole heights at 10ft. Then laminated the poles for the lvl to sit on. Cut and set the first one, nailed it in. Worked out good. Building confidence now. Ran out of hose so we just hand nailed until i can get to town after church tomorrow. So we ended here today:
