You're welcome, i wish there was more progress, weather has been crappy last few days, but we have an opening tomorrow and i'm taking it.
Today i spent getting the wifes' car running again. We got some bad gas and it was full of water. Stopped running about 50 feet from the garage as we were leaving. The old 86' truck kept us going as the Audi is down for maintenance. More updates tomorrow.

After the crazy wind here last night, i came out this morning and found everything intact. Woo hoo. Tiny victories. We got started and put a couple of sheets up and then the wife notified me about a flat tire on the truck that i had to drop everything to fix. Then the mail came and dropped off a christmas present for me. Ill leave this here as a teaser and let your imaginations run wild for now...

Cold hands all around, so the gloves went into the dryer and moving equipment to the back side. We wont get trim up today but we will be closed in enough to start moving equipment in.

Got a few things moved in today, the main reason for building this thing being this, the ih46 baler. Freed up my wifes barn, she has been tripping over this thing for years.

I think we made an executive decision that the 12 ft transport disc will remain outside on blocks. Just wont be room.

Congrats on basically getting it done, that little bit of trim should go pretty quick once you get going on it. I don't envy your cold temps, of course I don't envy ours either and they aren't nearly as bad.

Thanks, we've got a bunch of cold weather moving in, so i probably won't get any trim done for a while, i still have the transition between buildings to install and the roof/wall corner trim. It's good for snow season anyway.

I got everything moved into the barn except the two cars. Cleaned the yard right up!

We've got 3800 ft2 under roof now, 60 x 64'. I think that's enough for now!

Last day before the big snow storm rolls in, i found and purchased more pallet racking for the shop. Same brand, 30in wide instead of 36 this time. Anybody got any cheap beams in the michigan area? Sturdi bilt is the brand.

That top one took a left turn!

The shop looks great and sounds like you have made everything happen in time to give mother nature the middle finger.

I remember when scrap steel was $20 a ton, we bought tons of pallet racking, I think I used the last of it last year. It only took us 20 years! I am going to need some this summer to get the outdoor stuff organized.

Last time i called, she said it was now $11 / ton. The scrappers are basically out of business. Doesn't pay for gas to go get it now.

Common issue on audis. Control arms need replacing every 100k or so. Mine was 160k, tire wear was the indicator. I mistakenly beleived that since this was a seattle car that the pinch bolt would not be seized. I cut the knuckle out with a sawzall and took to a shop to press out the bolt. Should be a 5 min fix. 2hrs later, they drilled the center of the bolt and were air hammering it out.

Small update here; I ended up taking the knuckle to a local shop. They worked on it for 4 hours! I picked it up the next day. They only charged me $40. I thanked them profusely for not raking me over the coals. Now we are just waiting for parts to show up. I decided to replace the wheel bearing since it was original and i was already torn completely down. Normally you don't have to pull it all this far apart. Getting some other things done around the house for the rest of this week. I'll get back to the barn as soon as i can.

Another small update. Still working on the audi, mostly just waiting on parts. Got the wheel bearing on friday afternoon. Sat went to town to get it pressed together. Nobody had a press except the ford dealer who wanted to charge me 50 to press it together. I said no and left. A buddy asked me if i had a bottle jack. I do, and he said go to work. Weld something up. I got this figured out in about 5 mins.
Took just a minute to press this together. Used the framework on my welding table. Worked slick.

Ugh me too. That press business cost me a week. Been looking at homemade ones on pirate and pm.

Must be nice to get that one done. I have not been doing much at my shop the last few weeks. I had planned to do a bit this weekend, but between Valentine's Day and the cold, I decided to keep the GF warm instead of heating the shop.
