Thanks. Exactly. Happy wife, cold shop. 47F tonight. Cold hits tomorrow night. The salamander is setup and full. I can survive for a while.

Great job! amazing how fast you got that dug. We are supposed to get 1" to 2" inches down here in Ohio. I am already sick of this damn weather!

I'll get you a photo of the broken fitting. It broke because the pipe was encased in concrete and the slab heaved. The pipe brass fitting was the fuse.

It's not much, but it's a start. Began the air line plumbing tonight. Got the corner started at the compressor (which is in the leanto outside, but comes through the wall).

Worked about an hour tonight, i think with a longer few hours, i can make it back to the boiler. Boiler will need air to fill the tank from now on.

I need some better heat blankets.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

It is cold here today, so I am taking the day to do some inside stuff and errands, hope it isn’t too cold for you.

It was 22f this morning. I didn't check the shop temp at 5am when I left but I expect not too cold. Lots of thermal mass in there.

Today's high 34f. Brrr.

It was early this morning I put that up, and I was decaffeinated! Ya, it's Veterans day, I was looking at the month of October. I blame it on our two year old keeping me up all night last night!

Either of the Fairlanes a GT or a GTA, I think they were called? They had the 390?

This is one of the best times of the year in the deep South, SE Florida. The pool was 82 degrees last I checked. It's 85 degrees outside.

I suspect the HVAC tradesmen get a lot of work this time of year, repairs as the heating season arrives.

Neither are gts. Yellow is a coupe. Red is a 500 convertible. Only 66 was guaranteed a 390. You got a 289 2bbl standard in 67 gt.

I am jealous of your weather right now.

Been running air line all day. Got several sections done and sweated in. I'm back to the oil tanks. Wife took me out for some much needed r & r to the local brewery. Theres a band. It's folksy and not my jam but the beer is good.3e400421d1a9281700911e282d09d745.jpg

Had limited time to work on it today, but managed to complete the air line at the ceiling on the north wall, capped the end, and ran 4 drops so i can work at ground level now. Moved the bike to the shop, brought in 2 more barrels of oil and battened the hatches, including completing the weatherstripping on the garage door. I still have insulation panels on the top section i can't put in because i have more welding to do. I will try and complete center panel welding tomorrow night so i can put those 4 panels in. Snow starts in the AM, and temps drop steadily for a couple of days. Tues overnight forecast currently at 7F. It gets worse every time i look at it. Working in my favor is the huge amount of thermal mass in the shop. It just can't change very fast. Going out to check on salamander fuel and then off to bed.

We put the snow blade on the tractor last night, so its not like i'm buried or anything, but its just how fast the switch was thrown. Like in spring when it goes from 40 to 80 overnight. i hate that.

Over 2.5 hrs to get home from work tonight. And i left at 3pm to avoid a bunch of the rush. The state of the roads were atrocious. This storm kicked our butts.

Tonight after i made dinner and cleaned up, went out to the shop and finished the air line soldering. Made all the assemblies at the welding bench with the oxy/acetylene torch for speed and then soldered the assemblies onto the pipes. Worked good.

Now to finish the lines at the boiler box and attach the compressor. Then on to the boiler burner.

The shop was at 42F when i got out there, bumped up the temp and it ran for a few minutes and stayed comfortable the whole time. Seems to hold temp well with the insulation.

Where did you get that copper colored PVC?

Hope the snow situation isn't too bad for you, looks like we are going to get passed by once again.

Well at the copper colored pvc store, of course!

We got about 6 inches. It was still lightly snowing this morning at 5am. Secondary roads are terrible. Freeway wasn't too bad. Slightly reduced speeds. It's the cold i'm more worried about. Under 10F, i am not a happy camper at all.

I have a MI friend who used-to live in Oxford-Lake Orion area, now he's further west, north of Clarkston. Same weather both places, I'm sure. I sent an email asking him how-much he got. I don't miss the snow. I spent a third of my life in the Snow Belt, but I'm much-happier in the deep south away from that stuff! It did educate me on how-to drive in that though. I like how my cars last, stayin' out of the salted regions.

The copper is the hard-stuff (rigid)? Not-sure as to the nomenclature. I used a 3/8" flexible air line for the short run off my 80 gal. Saylor-Beall tank, and 3/4" galvanized water pipe for drops. OK, I had to look it up: K, L, and M. Guessing you used rigid type L?

I'd say Clarkston has similar weather, but probably not as much snow. We're far enough west we get the tail end of the lake effect if it's blowing hard enough. I hate snow. I want to move out of here, but likely never will. I've collected too many 2 ton machines to move...

The two fairlanes are side by side at the back of the shop. I have a cheap 4 post lift i got to stack them for more storage space. It really should get done first while i can still get back in there. Once the front lifts are up, it gets hard to get back that far into the shop with a big loader tractor.

Got it. I have a 4 post in my 2 car garage for the same reason - keep two cars and most of my tools inside. My poor Fairlane GT convertible is temporarily out in the weather, but that will be remedied soon.

What are your plans for the sedan? That would be a cool car to use for an R-code clone.

Right now, it's got a hot 351W i built back in around 1990 before the price of Ford stuff started to come down a little. It's got one of the first sets of Alan Root J302 heads, a single plane intake, Holley 750, comp cams 270h, and a few other parts in front of a toploader. I've recently been thinking about building a stroker cleveland for it. I can't afford an FE. Too much money for what they are.

What wrong with the 'dubya?
After pricing a FE build, I sold the running motor and building a 460 for less money and more power. I like the idea of an FE in old iron, but not cost effective.

Consider donating the car to me, it will save you money, open up space and allow you to move to a nice warm climate that much easier. It's a clear win-win.

I got about 6" snow. Spent plenty of time chipping it out. Have parts for a tractor based plow but of course I haven't gotten to the top of the list to convert the dream into reality :)

I think you'll like those copper airlines! No rust, no flakes, just nice air :)
