Long story for a short question:

By way of background my tool line of choice has been Blackhawk since 1990. Recently I noticed I lost my 9mm 3/8 drive 6 point socket that I used all winter. I searched the usual places (other socket bars, extensions, car trunks, pants pockets, jacket pockets, under car seats, under car mats, dresser junk draw, motorcycle tank bag and side bag and fender bag....) you get it.

Every time I look at the socket bar mocking me, the PTSD kicks in, and I contacted Tacoma Screw Company and bought a 9mm replacement. I was relieved that is said USA on it. I later bought a 7 and 8mm socket for just in case. Seldom would I use 3/8 for something small.

The 7mm says USA on it. The 8mm does not. Can you guys weigh in. Is any Blackhawk hand tool imported? Thanks. MBW

If it doesn't have those three little letters USA stamped on it, then it's most likely from Taiwan.

I have found Current Blackhawk to a mix of US and Taiwan made tools. When is the last time you saw a current production Blackhawk ratchet that was US made :dunno:

Lots of mixing in Blackhawk. Last time I checked most of the chrome stuff was still USA including most ratchets. Most of the impact stuff is Taiwan. Wrenches are still USA. Screwdriver I don't know.

I have a set of hex bit sockets that are USA. The new ones are Taiwan.

I believe there was a period of time when blackhawk sockets were made overseas, currently though I am pretty sure chrome sockets are US made. Could be you received an old stock replacement, or it is possible although unlikely it missed a step. Personally I am betting old stock.

9mm is what I usually reach for when I am working on the motorcycle and really need the 10mm, but at least I know it is there.

They are shipping me a new one, but made me promise to ship the old one back (which I will).

Its kind of like Williams. Some USA some Taiwan. BTW the two newer Blackhawk screwdrivers I have are NOT made in the USA.
