So for these, you'd yank the ballast and just use bare bones fixture with these LED bulbs ??

Direct wire each fixture and connect multiple lights in series ??

I'm confused about these as well.

I have just plain old T-12 fixtures.

Can I use these? What would I have to do to them?

A "direct-wire" (aka ballast bypass) bulb requires the lamp holders used in T12 fixtures, where each pin gets it's own wire. T8 fixtures generally use lamp holders where each end of the lamp gets its own signal, but each pin on an end gets the same (i.e. they are wired together/shunted).

The left-most item under Customers Also Purchased is a non-shunted lampholder. I'm guessing it is pretty common, but I know it is not the only type. GJ users Platonic Solid and Cyberdyke who post in the electrical section are the experts on lighting (and LEDs in particular) and could say more about lampholders.

The downloadable instructions for that bulb tell exactly how to wire the fixture. Note that not all bypass LEDs use this type of wiring (one wire to each end of bulb). Others use wiring to just one end of the bulb. From reading posts of the above two members, it seems that the industry is not yet leaning to a standard scheme for replacement LEDs.

For those who don't want to rewire, there are drop in LED replacements for both T8 and T12. Since GJ doesn't want much technical discussion in this Hot Deals section, I should probably refer you up to existing threads in the electrical section for more on all of this.

I definitely would want to rid myself of the Ballasts.

If I buy 2 bulb by the time I pay for shipping I can get the entire fixture at Costco, unless you are buying a lot it is not a deal, and I would try a couple b4 I buy a lot of them
