Not a bad deal... too bad you have to go through the Sears website though. I've heard that it can be a pain...

check for stock under 'local pickup'
then go to the local sears and buy it at their kiosk and someone will bring it right out

I wanted to do that, but none of the freaking stores around me have it available.

Actually, after searching a few other zip codes, I found one that had it. It should be waiting for me this evening and my wife is going to go get it. :) Woohoo.

How did you find that deal? I have that set, and it's excellent. I also ebay-ed the ratchets. But is there a way to find what it's calling "The Hot Deal of the Day"? I could use a few things at half off.

Hi All...I purchased this set a couple of weeks back...same deal plus an additional $10 off...ie $89.

It sure is a lot of sockets! Only issues I have...1) I wish the sockets were better marked...maybe the "etched" version...I guess my eyes are getting old :) 2) The ratchets seem really cheap...I likely will look to replace with better ratchets.

Otherwise it is a lot of sockets for a good price...Thanks...Tom R

That set is a really good buy. I bought it during the holidays when everyone was buying them. I got mine for $89 with coupon.

Remember, if bad aesthetics bother you (chipped chrome, etc.) make sure you go through each piece and call the customer service number that is indicated on the parts list. Also, mine had a couple of duplicates/incorrect parts. There is no need to drive back to Sears since they will send you replacements without requiring you to send your "old" ones in. Very good service if you ask me.

Can somebody please post the socket sizes covered in this set.

Are the wrenches 6 points too?

Thanks....

Wrenches are 6 pt too. I have never seen Cman 6 pt Raised panels before. Maybe I just never looked. How do you enter that code?

Please, I need to see how many holes this set would fill in my toolbox before I can justify buying it.

Sorry, I don't have them with me right now but I can tell you that they have every size you would expect out of a "small" set. It has from the tiny sizes to 1"+. The only thing it doesn't include is 1/2" drive deep sockets IIRC.

If I remember correctly:

1/4" shallow SAE & Metric
1/4" deep SAW & Metric
3/8" shallow SAE & Metric
3/8" deep SAE & Metric
1/2" shallow SAE & Metric

Great all meat set, bought mine during the pre xmas sales for $89, and plan to ebay the ratchets when I get time. I also filled in large and small sizes of 6 pt wrenches while the $5 coupon was working, but haven't used a one yet (12 pt is more convenient).

They go from

1/4" - Metric - 4mm short to 14mm deep
SAE- up to 5/8" deep
3/8" Metric up to 22mm
SAE up to 1"
1/2" Metric up to 22mm
SAE up to 1-1/2" I think

This is how they all fill up a 26" Cman drawer

The coupon code appears to work, but it looks like it takes the $10 off of the $199.99, and then only takes $90.00 off for the "Hot Deal of the Day".

Oh well.

This will be a nice complement to rather thin portable toolbox.

Thanks for the heads-up, MAD!

I am not aware of any "professional" craftsman sockets but they do offer impact sockets (black oxide finish); aside from that, no! They offer tools marked as "professional" like screwdrivers, ratchets, wrenches, pliers (red rubber handles) and power tools; there are quite a few other hand tools as well. Here is a monster list of "professional" stuff from Sears website: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/search_1...ional&gobutton.x=0&gobutton.y=0&gobutton=find
I think they throw around the "professional" around quite a bit; marketing speak maybe?

Picked up my set from the store today.

While I kinda like the laser-etched sockets, this set is kinda cool. It's all stamped.

Likely why they were blowing them out the door at such a cheap price...

Really? For some reason I thought all the stamped sockets were long gone by now...

Now the question is, since I ordered the set and don't have a lot of room in my box, what can I use to store and hold the sockets? I was thinking of the lisle dual magnet holders, where shallow on one side and deep on the other. I don't think in my box, I have room to stand the deeps up, I think they need to be on the side... Any ideas? I did like the craftsman holders, but at 20 a pop, I would spend more for those than I did for the sockets.... Also I can't afford at this time to put a box on top of my kra300f or that would solve the problem... So I am not sure what to do, or just keep in the box they come with, but I think it would be better to keep them in my box with the other tools.

They come in their very own blow molded case that actually seems to hold them relatively well. The wrenches have no specific place in them, but each of the sockets and ratchets and extensions have their own place.

If you break apart the case and put it in your toolbox maybe.

It has a deep pocket for the wrenches, other style ratchets, etc. But I have found, that the cover that goes over the 3/8" short and 1/4" sockets, will not stay shut and locked. Every time you open it (between the 3rd and 5th from my reading about them), you have to hold that lid shut, so you don't lose your sockets out of there.

I am still looking for a good portable chest.

Didn't think about the interior lid being a problem, but I can see it happening. I'm planning on getting rid of my box and putting everything in my tool chest. I don't wanna carry around 30 lbs of sockets anyway. :D
