I recently purchased Grip On locking pliers (thanks to Matthew) and they are absolutely amazing. I would like to have one more of a specific style and read that SO LP10WR is the same tool. The price on Amazon has since risen from what I paid and my SO Dealer has them for within a few $$ of Amazon, and I rather give him the business. According to him they aren't the same product, so I figure I would ask the experts. Thanks.

Your Snap-on guy is wrong. Grip on makes the Snap-on pliers. The SO ones do appear to have a different finish than some GO branded ones.

Grip on pliers are made in Spain. The Snap-on pliers list the country of origin as ESP, which I think is safe to say is Spain. España is the Spanish word for Spain.

I like the orange. I'd go Grip On!

Though if I were buying that style I'd go for the Milwaukees just because I really like the adjustment on their locking pliers. No more getting pinched.

Snap on seems to have the exclusive on Chrome/Nickel plated teeth, everyone else resells are the painted version (black/w colors epoxy paint). Its a minor difference, maybe in auto applications lighter color is better, reflects more light in dark shadow areas. the paint is supposed to be optimized coating designed for welding applications in any event....

Thanks for the info everyone. I did see SO's website that lists the COO as ESP. The kicker is that the orange ones I have are listed under Gray Tools, which is a local Canadian company. They bite better than any other brand I have tried - make certain jobs a lot easier.

Grip On is currently the OE for the locking pliers sold by Snap On, Proto and CAT (Caterpillar). They formally provided locking pliers for Blue Point, NAPA, Channellock and probably other brands I'm not thinking of.
