Thought we had ac problems a few weeks ago. But the installer came out and said the cottonwoods on the side of the ac unit was restricting it from cooling thus preventing it from cooling the house. Hd rinsed it off and everything seemed ok. Now we're having a similar problem.

When we turn on the ac we can feel cool air coming out of the vent, but its not very cold nor is it blowing very hard. It was on for 6ish hours before we noticed and it only cooled the house .5 degrees. Before I call him back out is there something simple I am missing that I can check?

If the volume of air seems low take a look at your exchanger (in a typical forced air setup it's the box on top of the of furnace and typically has an access panel to remove on the front...) And see if the coil the air blows through is iced up. If so check out your filter to start with. Otherwise the most basic check is the delt T or change in temperature from the air going in through the return to the air coming out at the register.

Low airflow? No insult intended, but start with easy stuff. Is the filter clean? If so, check TD across the evaporator. Should be about 20°F. If not, you want to see if the coil is dirty or freezing up. You may not be able to access it easily. If you see ice on the larger of the two lines anywhere, it's a low airflow or low refrigerant charge issue. Putting on gauges, checking subcooling and using an ammeter on the system would tell you immediately. Again, no insult intended.

Look for cottonwoods stuck to the sides of the condenser?
What's a cottonwood look like I assume it's a bud or leaf?

Sorry guys, babies 2nd birthday today, been busy getting ready. Cottonwoods is just like the dandelions floating around. Only once the tree sheds them it looks like snow falling in Alaska. Theres about 130 million of the gosh darn things from each tree.

I'll be honest guys, I dont know some of the acronyms used... the td??

We've got ONE cottonwood in my neighbor's yard. Snow falling is a pretty accurate description.

Sorry about the "TD" abbreviation. I should have just written it out.
