A/C for grinding/porting room?

I've got a room in my shop (18x10ft) used exclusively for grinding, porting, etc. It has an air filtration system in it that does a pretty decent job of pulling metal particulate out of the air. It also has a single ceiling vent to the roof. Right now, I have a small window unit air conditioner mounted near the floor (under the bench) that's starting to make a lot of noise and leak water into the shop.

I'm looking for a more robust solution than to buy another $100 unit off craigslist. I'm typically wearing a full-face resp. and would like to wear a tyvec suit if it's cool enough.

Are there options for a unit that could cool the room without being exposed the the harsh climate/air inside of it? Any suggestions?

I would modify your porting bench to use a big shop vac with an intermediate catch can. It would pull the grinding trash off the bench right there, rather than letting it drift around. Any 8K BTU window unit ought to chill that space easy. When I port, I set the head up and use a vacuum. No trash in the shop. Same on the mill - I hook a big vac tube to the mill table right next to the part and **** up the swarf right at the cutting tool.
