I am building an old truck. I.put air in it and had to fab up everything to adapt it and made the lines and hoses. A friend has the hand crimper so we made all the hose assemblies.
He charged it up and put dye in it and everything worked 3 months latter it lost its Freon. I want to buy a black light and glasses to find the leak. Any suggestions on what to get. He lives always from me so thought I would see if I can locate it and repair then have him come and recharge it.thanks. Jim

I've never tried it but they have those scorpion searching lamps that are more like fancy flashlights. And I believe they emit UV. If that's the kind of dye that's in the system I'd try that. Gotta be cheaper than lights made specifically for HVAC.

Any black light will work. The darker the area the better. Do you have a garage/shop to work in?

You can grab a light and glasses at any auto parts place. I got mine at pep boys. I think it was about 15 bucks or so. Handy to have when you need it.
