A couple more tool display boards

I finished a few more tool display boards this week. First up is a 1/4" drive SK set. Then the vintage Estwing hammer display.

Very nice, but I think you need to find a hatchet for the Estwing board so it matches the advertisement.

I will have about a dozen of these displays for the new house someday. Not sure if they will go in a finished basement or workshop area yet. I guess it depends on the house we buy. Now to find a place to store them until that happens.

Very cool!... Neat way to display stuff. I have scored a few actual "tool boards" from various places over the years but paired down the collection in the past year as I didn't have many places to display them properly.

That's the key isn't it? A place to display them properly. I've had all these tools in drawers and boxes in my basement workshop. Either I display them or get rid of them. So, I started building the displays. The only problem is the wall space to hang them. That's where the new house comes in!

Ha! Yeah my garage wall space is limited. I could hang one or two in the house maybe but the other half might not like it. Haha

can you tell me (us) how you attached your ratchet and sockets? also do you have any before and/or during pictures of the materials and how you made those boards?

WELL DONE!!

The sockets are on a socket holder that is screwed to the board. The Ratchet attaches to a random old socket that is friction fit into a hole drilled in the board. I could epoxy the socket into the hole but I don't think it's needed. As for materials, I use maple plywood and frame it in solid maple. Simple as that.

Woodland: thanks for the 411 and your boards look great. I like the vintage ones i've seen and i brought this Williams 3/4 socket board home, but i'm lacking much wall space so i'll have to find spots for it before I can maybe build a few like you did.

please take pics once you find time to hang yours on a wall.

A couple more displays done! The first is a late 50's True Temper Rocket A-16 hammer that is in pretty decent shape considering it's been used regularly. The second is a set of Stanley chisels my dad bought me at Coast to Coast hardware store in 1984 when I was in 7th grade.

This will be the last display for a while (probably). I don't plan on any others till I finish my Plomb pebble combo set. Of course something in my workshop could catch my eye. The Stanley chisels were a spontaneous project. This is an Artisan/S-K ratchet and socket set I assembled. My grandfather had this set but my brother (retirement planner with little interest in tools) inherited them.
