Need help with identification for a couple tools:

1st is marked C Stearns Syracuse NY and I assume is some kind of tool / file / saw holder...

2nd is a pair of sockets, 3/8" drive, marked Bonney TCL5 & TCL7 (1/4" and 5/16"). Not sure what you call them, or their purpose.

Any ideas?

E. C. Stearns & Company, actually, and you are correct - it is a holder for small tools.

I believe a file would be the most common application, with the tang extending inside the handle...

The first looks like a handle off of an old wood burning stove, but it is not quite right to fit any I have seen. Is it a file handle with that clamp?
