A decent tripod-stand work light?

Is there such a thing?

I've got two halogen work lights, and they've been **** from the start. It doesn't take long before the adjustment collars on the telescoping pieces start slipping. The upper frame that holds the light heads is wobbly. I often avoid folding them up to move because I don't know if I'll get them extended and standing again.

I've looked all over, and would be willing to pay more for one with quality construction, but they all seem to be similar. I suppose if I bought a new one, it would be LED, but still the stands on the LED work lights are also cheap.

Anyone got a decent one that holds up?

Anyone modify a **** one to make it more usable? Maybe drilling holes and using a pin to hold the telescoping parts in fixed positions?

Maybe an old surveyors tripod?...heavy duty as hell. I really like the Snap On LED work lights that my Costco has been carrying, and plan to replace the halogen heads on my tripod stands with them as they burn out. Way less power draw and no finicky bulbs to deal with.

I second the suggestion for Snap On Led. I have one mounted to my old halogen twin work-light telescoping stand. Fits in top channel perfectly with 2 zip ties. And to fix the wobble top I filled tube with JBWeld and reinstalled plug & bolt. So far I do not have issue with telescoping function.
I plan to buy a second Snap-On light for times I do not need stand.

The Milwaukee one is pretty well-reviewed. I have two of the non-tripod TrueViews and the light output is amazing.
