I was talking about my plans for insulating and skinning the new garage when my dad suggested I use mold resistant sheetrock. The cost is like 3 times normal sheetrock and I'm wondering if its necessary. I won't be washing cars or anything inside of the shop.

I plan on insulating and sheetrocking the entire garage as well as adding a ceiling to it (its a 27x22x8)

Questions:

1. should I bother with mold resistant sheetrock?
2. what kind of ventilation should I add to help with the heat in the summer?

I'm considering modifying the building to use scissor trusses to give me more ceiling height but im not sure the slight payoff (1-2 feet more clearance) will be worth the extra work.

Eventually I'd like to have a lift installed (Max Jacks or in floor scissor lift) so I'm thinking about building into the center of the ceiling a 2-3 foot spot big enough for a car to fit.

I'm in brainstorming mode right now.

3. What do you guys think about that?

4. I'm considering tapping off the main breaker box so the garage will have its own breaker box. Is this a good idea or overkill?

5. any ideas for trim around the edges of the floor? Something durable.

here's what I got so far. We close on the 27th and im already sketching up plans :)

Here's what I'm thinking of doing with the ceiling

That will give me about 10 feet of clearance for lift of some sort.

Is modifying it to have scissor trusses a big huge deal?
