Although I've been on this board for several years I haven't really posted any pix of the inside of my shop.

Recently I got busy and cleaned up the joint a little bit (I wish I didn't have the time but the trucking biz stinks right now and I have plenty of unpaid vacation!)

Here's a couple interior shots....

This shot is of the fab shop...
100_0124.jpg

Welder and Plasma cutter (latter via Ebay)
100_0125.jpg

Old Waterloo box...$20.00
100_0127.jpg

$134.00 blast cabinet from Delta Airlines (Ebay)
100_0128.jpg

$50.00 jib crane bought at auction
100_0131.jpg

CTD chop saw ($80.00 Ebay... $2400.00 New!) and Chi-Com pipe bender (bought at a weak moment)
100_0133.jpg

Main grinder...70's MIJ
100_0134.jpg

Baldor grinder
100_0136.jpg

Wilton band saw (Ebay)
100_0137.jpg

40's vintage Rockwell drill press ($140.00 Ebay) and small band saw
100_0138.jpg

Another crane shot...

Another overall shot...

Parts Dept.....

This is the part that I heat and cool year round 30X36). The other part (30X14) is where my lift is and I open the door from the fab shop to warm that room when I need to. This winter I'll add some supplemental heat to make it cozier...

Thats for posting a picture of a real shop. Nice to see one rather than those silly car viewing rooms.

I've got more stuff that I didn't take pix of...Chicago finger brake, Pexto jump shear...

I cleaned it up but I'm building a little trailer now so things are a little out of place. There's also a '58 TR3 that I didn't show that I'm parting out and another tool box, etc. maybe later.

I like the drill press. I am hoping to find one similar. I have seen a couple on CL but they have wanted to much.

Superb shop !
It also shows that if you wait a bit and hunt around the bargains are out there.

I have to say tho, that I never see any bargains close to that Waterloo box... heck, at around £40 in our money I'd fight someone for it.

Thanks.... I'm just a poor working stiff (REAL poor this year) and I can't afford good quality stuff unless it's used.

My trucking deal allowed me to buy the stuff that the seller wouldn't ship and I'd go get it myself. The equipment I have came from several different states... some of it took rides of several thousand miles before the stuff got home....

That is a nice set up you've got there. I like seeing the working garages. How tall is the ceiling? That jib crane just fits!

I remember you having a 40s Ford project too? Did you finish that one?

I bought that crane HOPING it would fit my 9'6" ceilings.... AND light fixtures.

I've had that thing for about three years and ,just recently, bolted it to the floor and reassembled the I-beam. It clears the lights by about 2"... whew! I would have shortened it if needed... but I'm really glad I didn't have to. It has about 230 degrees of available swing so I can move almost anything around now without so much as a grunt... really helps when you get this old and fragile!

It's a 1/2 ton capacity at it's farthest point which is 12'.

I had a '39 Ford standard sedan for a couple years. An old unrestored survivor that was rescued from a fallen corn crib. I sold it a few years ago to a guy in North Carolina who wanted a life long project. It was a neat, one owner car and it ran and drove. Kinda shocked the locals when I'd drive around the neighborhood with it.... the body was pretty rough rust-wise...

Great deals on your stuff. That Waterloo box & CTD saw are two of the best deals I've seen on this board in a long while. Wondering what brand the compresser sitting in the corner by the a/c unit is? looks good.

Man, very impressive digs there Krooser. I really appreciate the fact that it is no doubt about it, a Git er Done! type of shop! Yup, I can relate to your place, and the fact that you have bought a lot of used equipment on so very many levels! Well equipped, you have a lathe and mill as well though if I am not mistaken don't you?

That's a Bel-Aire 5Hp 80 gallon two stage....model # is 218V. I documented the motor failure here earlier this year.

It's a good unit but a little light for sandblasting.

That a/c is a '66 Fedders given to me by my father-in-law. Cools the shop really nice.

Sold my little lathe after I figured I really didn't know how to run it! Kinda sorry I did... I may find another one this year.

My mill is a WWII US Navy survivor... A Fray #7... another $400.00 Ebay find.

A really nice shop you have there!
Proves that a man with patience, perseverance, and end eye for a bargain can put together a great working shop on a slim budget. .

That’s a terrific jib crane and for $50.00 a real bargain. I cannot imagine that it included the chain fall at that price. That alone could be worth twice what you paid...

Sorry to her that the trucking business has been off for you. Hopefully things will be picking up this year. In the mean time, it gave you the chance to get caught up with your home projects. Including cleaning up a bit. And sharing your prize possessions with us.

Nope... the chain fall didn't come with it. I bought that in 1988 at an auction for $6.00 IIRC.... I'm a cheap *******, I know!

Long story but the guy who had the auction had a huge small engine biz that he closed down to retire. He had his equipment for sale locally and I took a tour hoping to find something I could use. His prices were as high as new stuff.... or higher! When nobody bought anything he auctioned it all... got pennies on the dollar for most of his stuff.

Hello,

I must agree. Thats a very nice shop.

I like "scrounging" stuff as well, especially tools.

If you get time I would like to see a better pic of the mill.

Thanks

Jeff

got any pics of the jump shear and the capacity? I assume a jump shear is the same as a stomp shear.(only recently heard them called jump shears)

I'm kind of in the market for one, so I'd like to hear how you like it for what you do.

I bought mine on Ebay from a retired HVAC guy...he was in the mountains of NE Georgia.

Getting there was interesting as I was in my Peterbilt and the "road" he lived on was nothing more than a driveway with a street sign.

We loaded it with a wrecker that I hired from "town"... cost me $25.00 to have him lift it onto my flatbed. While I was there i also bought a transmission for my hot rod project and an old deSoto grille for resale. i got more for the grille than I paid for the shear so I came out pretty good.

I'll snap a photo tomorrow.

I like the shear... it's in nice shape, I got the back gages for it and it never cut anything heavier than 22 GA. steel. The guy sold it 'cuz he had terminal cancer and was selling his stuff so his son wouldn't sell all his possessions (after he died) to buy drugs and booze...
