A floor leveling question . . .

Did a search but don't really see the answer to what I'm doing....

....which is, remodeling a basement bathroom for a cousin of mine. It's just a standard 5'X8' bathroom...nothing fancy, but he wants to tile the floor. Problem is, the concrete is a little "bunched up" around the toilet flange. Doing some layout and laying some test tiles down around the flange reveals that they rock around a little bit; enough to pop them loose from the thinset, and possibly break them. If you get away from the flange a foot or so, they lay nice and flat.

Not really sure if a floor leveling product will work, plus I've never used one before and don't know how viscous it is. The whole floor slopes slightly to a floor drain about 10 feet away, so I'm worried that a leveler would try to run downhill to the drain before it cures.

All ideas appreciated.

I have a small angle grinder with a masonry wheel. You would be surprised how fast you can grind the concrete away with that!It shouldn't be too hard to level those high spots. You can buy one at the box stores,or rent for not too much$
