Hello Everyone,

I'd just like to say hello to you all. I was very pleased to find this site! :) I have lived in my current house for the past 19 years. It's a small detached red brick Victorian house in sunny Surrey, UK. When I bought the place, I inherited a single-bay 1950's corrugated iron/asbestos "garage" at the bottom of my garden when I bought the house and have been promising to raise it to the ground and build myself a 30m sq red brick (to match the house) garage in it's place...

...one thing led to another....and 19 years later I'm finally in the position to do something about it!...:D

30m sq is the max we can build in England without planning permission.

Anyway, the time has finally come!...

Have a look at my profile for some pics of my old hut...

Davidx

lucky you. welcome. this place is amazing. knowing I can come here and get the skinny on damn near anything has reduced my non-handy-self-image pre-job anxiety immensely. yesterday i changed the axle seal on my truck, today I'll clean the MAF and switch out a cheesy defiant dead bolt with a grade 1 schlage.

good luck with your project, I look forward to hearing about it.

Thanks for your welcolms everyone. I have created a couple of albums on my profile. Work has just started on my project and I intend to create new albums as the project progresses.

Is using my profile the best method? Or should I start posting update pictures on this thread?

My first update! old corrugated iron garage removed and the plot is ready for laying the foundations this Friday! :)

The bad news is that I've had to reduce the size I was hoping for quite substantially! :( My floor space is now down to just over 210ft sq :(:(

But looking on the bright side, I will still have room for several motorbikes and the ability to work on them - which is my main driver! :)

My next task is to decide what type of double door to install - Christ! the choices are endless! ... showroom visits this coming Saturday I feel....
