Finally I gathered up the courage to post pictures of the garage! It needs a lot of organizing still, but so far I've built a workbench at the back, a cabinet installed above the bench, picked up a beer fridge for those long jobs, and installed some new lighting. Before, a pair of 100w incandescent bulbs were lighting the whole place, which just wasn't enough, so as per recommendations in past threads on this forum, I went with eight twin-T8 fixtures (four on each side), and boy has the lighting improved... it was literally a night and day difference
I also picked up an older mac for $100 at a computer store that was shutting down. It was probably the best purchase I've made for the garage thus far. I hooked it up to an old Klipsch 2.1 speaker setup that I had laying around, and now use the computer for listening to tunes and playing DVDs while I do some wrenching, and for looking things up online if I need any assistance. This way I don't need to risk getting my laptop dirty.
There are still some things that need sorting out, such as the sinking floor (note the slant of the tool chest), and the need of fresh paint on the walls, but other than that, I'm pleased with the way it's coming along.
(The wheel leaning against the bench will be turned into a table!)
Another recent purchase that I made that I recommend to everyone else is that of a fire extinguisher. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
