We have this kit at work for dash size o rings and it works well for us.

I've tasked myself with finding a similar kit in metric sizes and I am coming up blank.

Most have significantly fewer options than the 150 sizes we have in dash sizes and don't even get me started on the "metric" kits that are really just a dash kit with the dimensions in millimeters. Does anyone have a decent assortment kit of metric sizes that they can point me too? We are finding more and more items built with metric spec seals that don't have a dash equivalent and having to postpone repairs to one off the specific metric o ring we need *****.

First thing to pick is Which Metric?

DIN? ISO? GAZ? JIS? Chinese metric flat face? Something else?

Komatsu uses different sizes than Kawasaki, uses different sizes than Rexroth... etc

Some OK general assortments here:

All I know, is that the little clamshell kits (metric and SAE both) are useless. I have three of them (since 2006, so going on 19 years now), and I have NEVER found an O-ring from the kit that fits anything I need. So if anybody has an link to an actual useful kit, I am also interested.

I have an old HF clamshell kit. It has inch sized o-rings. They work for generic tasks where I need something better than a rubber band, but I'd never actually use one for a sealing purpose unless there was an l "need it now, let's see if it works" emergency- because the sizes are not accurate.

Edit- if you actually want something that you can rely on to seal a transmission or hydraulic pump, then spend the $ at McMaster on a kit.

I'd love to. It's company money. I can't find a kit worth buying.

The o-ring store is the place.
Might need to order a few kits to get a full size range but they are very good quality.

I keep a full drawer for SAE dash sizes and another for Metric and then a third for quad rings and U-cups.
O-ring sizing comes for both dash and metric sizes is really helpful to have too.
I'll be by to pick up your drawer tomorrow.

We have a slide style sizer. It *****.

Tell us more about your drawer system please. I have been looking for hardware drawers, and I like that better than the metal cases is slide racks.

Agreed, in spades, a most worthless assortment. Mine are now ~ a decade old and barely touched because they almost never contain the size needed and they look really lousy quality besides. Disposing them now might be a smart move.
Staying tuned for recommendations on an assortment that would serve well in an automotive environment.

Wish I would of snagged an o-ring kit or two when I still worked at the CAT dealership. The Caterpillar kits are stupid expensive.

I use Lista and Vidmar cabinets. They make Snapon look like harbor freight **** as each drawer is rated for 440lbs. In fact the more weight the better they feel .

Best of all used they go for about $100 a drawer.

The plastic bins I use for small parts are from the Schaller corp. They come in a bunch of sizes and are very economical.

It’s by far the most space efficient system for storing hardware / small parts and is very common in industrial applications.

Wow - what a great place to source o-ring and hydraulic seal kits! Don't need anything at the moment but bookmarked it for the future. Thanks!
I use them a lot and their customer service/ shipping is great. I’ve also used Hercules a few times and no complaints with them either but since I mostly service mountian bike suspension the O-ring store has more of what I typically need.
