Since it's already painted orange . . . . AND . . . you're in Cincinnati . . . . . then it looks like YOUR responsibility as GJ member to buy the beast and re-do your garage in Cincinnati Bengals theme !!

I can envision the Bengal logo in middle of that wrench hanging on wall as centerpiece of your entire garage.

Go for it!! ;)

Looks like a promotional item or a 1948 World's Fair "Largest Wrench" display gimmick. Either way, damn cool.

I have a williams wrench that is 4-1/4". I have not had the opportunity to use it yet but maybe one day. I paid 15 dollars for it. If someone wants to send me this one I will be able to use a wrench on the nut and bolt head which would be convenient haha. cheers

There is a surplus place I know of that has one like that (even painted orange) hanging on the wall.
I have tried to buy it at least a dozen times but they won't sell.

I have seen wrenches that size and bigger for use on ships. My guess is that it was to be used and not just a promo item
If it was strictly promo I would think they could have forged it semi-hollow on the back side to save weight

Wrenches that size are intended to be handled by a couple of guys

I would buy it if it was a little bit longer. As it is I think I will pass, because I can't put a cheater on it, and it seems a little on the short side to achieve the required torque to bust loose a 5-1/2" bolt by hand.:lol_hitti It is hard to imagine that thing actually being useful in the real world, so it must have been a promotional piece of some sort.

Fasteners of that size are somewhat common on ships, powerplants, etc. Take a peek at Ingersoll rand's 2 1/2" drive impact for an idea of the size/torque requirements of some of those fasteners.

That is simply a holding wrench for the big fasteners used on ships and other huge equipment. get it on the nut or bolt head, and rest the other end on the desk. then get an impact on on it to do the work...

Agree it is super cool, but not $200 cool to me. $20 and it would be mine, but much more than that :dunno: No real use for it. Plus I wouldn't want to use it being open ended, it may round off the nut/bolt, only closed 12pt wrenches for me. :lol2::lol_hitti

Heck that thing has to induce ~100ft*lbs of torque just from its weight alone.

:scared: I want to see it in full impacting operation.
