Lifts are an important part of a garage. It would be nice to see a forum devoted to them, their installs and discussion on different types. As is, I have to search the whole site for info.

Think about it, where do they draw the line? In my opinion a forum just for lifts would be ridiculous. Why not a forum just for tool boxes, just hand tools, electrically powered tools, air tools, just lighting ETC. I guess I fail to see why it is so difficult to use the "search" function.

The same argument could be made about the flooring forum. Why have a designated forum for floor coatings, why not wall paint, ventilation systems, ceiling treatments, cabinets?

The answer to "why," is that a lift isn't just a tool, it's something that have to design your whole garage around. There are lifts that have to a significant amount of work to install. Say, in the case of an in-ground lift. Or, the modification of a structure to accommodate a lift. There's room to talk about what makers of lifts are best, who to have install them, etc.

On the other side of the forum, there's the benefit of having a lift manufacturer as a sub-forum sponsor. Since there is quite a bit of money in industry, they are always looking for a way to advertise.

I know in the case of my garage-building adventure, it is spawned by the desire to have a lift, and a place to put it. It's the centerpiece, what separates where you park your car, from where you build your car. It's that want of a lift, that drove me to this site in the first place.

There are a heck of a lot more people asking flooring questions than there are asking lift questions or wall coating questions ETC. You want a lift forum, the next guy wants a "fill in the blank" forum, next thing you know you have 50 forums with most of them being ghost towns. Ryan will make what he considers the right decision for his website, I'm just stating an opinion.

Oh and thank you for your service to this country.

I would like to See a forum designated for Hydraulic Jacks, Lifts etc. It would make it 100x's easier when trying to give assistance to people. I know GH has a section designated for this very subject, Most Google searches for "Jack Repair" bring you to a GJ Link regarding there search parameters. I would venture to guess ive talked to at least 300 Members who joined this site only for assistance with there Jack problems. Of course once they got here they got addicted to all the other info that GJ provides, but they intitially found it because they was needing some Jack Help. Ive been thinking about starting a Forum just for Hydraulic jack Repair, I already have a server and would like to break the forum down into sections based on Brand, Style etc... Im in current talks with a buddy who is a forum building genius.

Probably because there is a forum for it. I would imagine that people that have questions would just go to another site that had a place to talk about such things.

IMO, the lift is the MOST important part of a garage. Honestly, I'm surprised that wasn't the first forum on the list when building this site.
