I am building a shop 40x50 with 13'6" ceilings. I have a large quantity of nearly new 2'x4' drop in fixtures. Each contains 4 T5 bulbs. I am trying to determine how far apart I should place them on the ceiling to give me realy good light. I will be building cars, welding, and machining in this shop so good lighting is imperative. The final plan for walls and ceilings is to cover them with white steal barn siding.

Any advise is appreciated.

Brand and part/model number? someone on here can take this info and plug it into a lighting calc program such as Visual and get a pretty good idea of what you need.

I went and took one off the shelf tonight. They are made by Lithonia Lighting in Georgia. I checked the website and Lithonia does not appear to make this model any longer. They contain 4 T8 bulbs and they measure 2'x4'. The ballast is a GE unit rated at 1.5 amps. I got them last summer at an auction. A local middle school was slated for demolition and I purchased around 80 in one lot. I now have 35. I am planing a spray booth that will use 12 of these. three along each wall and three more in the corners where the ceiling and wall meet on each side of the booth.

The shop lights were originally planed to be about 6' apart on the ceiling. I am not sure if that would be too close or not?

Any help is appreciated
