Why is it when I start introductions I feel like it is a 12 step meeting? Hi, my name is Scott, I need help with my garage....

In all seriousness, I'm from Illinois, well south of Chicago. My garage is an attached 24 x 25. My plans are to slowly redo it as time and money allow for better storage, modular working area/shop, garage gym, man cave and can still park a car in it. I tend to be very optimistic with great plans on paper.

First project is a set of shelves in one of the corners next to the overhead door. I designed it to fit 17 gallon HDX totes from Home Depot. We have a lot of totes from the years, but I need totes the same size instead of trying to make them fit. Apparently I'm a little on the OCD side too.

All of the wood cut and I started to assemble the sides with pocket holes. Final product will be painted the 1960's/1970's MOPAR Go Green. The rest of the projects from additional shelving, conduit, anything else that stands still long enough, will be painted in the MOPAR colors from that time frame. I don't have a car from then and currently no plans for one. But I do love the looks and colors.

I will need to do something with the floor as well. It is sealed concrete and it is very slick when wet. I'm leaning towards a floor tile of some sort that way I don't have to take off the current sealer to put down a floor coating.

From what I have read, this looks to be a great forum with a lot of knowledge. I'm looking forward to it.

VC: more than a few of us have been through a 12 step and a good portion of us have OCD so you are in good company.

post up some pictures of your garage before and ask questions if you'd maybe like help. or just post more pictures as you make the changes you like.

there are lots of options for shelving, storage, workbenches, flooring, lighting and the list goes on here and we all do something a bit different.

welcome to the forum and i bet you'll like it here. not always warm and fuzzy cause after all we are on the internet, but if you stick around you'll find the members that have legitimate answers and are willing to help if you need some.

you might want to go in your GJ profile and put in a location so when you are on threads asking questions you'll get better area specific answers since we have members from all over the world. also while you are in there click on Avatar and download a picture if you might have a favorite that will show up like my bison does under my drivesitfar handle. you can change that if you ever decide you wish to later too.

cheers
