another newbie wiring question -
I am putting some galvalume or some metal surface on the wall around the bottom 4 feet of my shop, so to allow for the trim I am placing my wall outlets 52" off the floor.

I have seen all the drawings where they show the wire routing about a foot or so above the outlets, but I will have drywall there and will be hanging shelves, etc.

I want to route my 12/2 Romex a foot or so below the outlets behind the metal - Is there any code or anything concerning the height of the wire runs? I have not seen any, but that doesn't mean much.

Thanks.

We run it at a height that's convenient to drill at which keeps your holes consistent and makes wire pulling easier. If can stay a foot above or below boxes that's good too. You don't want to be right above/below the boxes because then you'll need to make a gooseneck in the wire before it enters the box so you can staple it. That looks like ****.

I am going to drop down about a foot below the outlets - It will be easy to drill. I wasn't looking for style points, but I do want a good looking job.

Thanks again

It's a good idea to protect the wire in places where you could be mounting stuff on the walls. The plates are cheap insurance.
