Saw this awesome post this morning. Clearly it is a VERY thoroughly thought out storage solution for all their necessary tools.

There is a ton in this post to admire and oogle, but I can't get over the custom wrench storage. It looks like they used metal drawer inserts, and then ran bolts up through the bottom of the drawer to use as guide posts for the closed end wrenches. What a great idea.

Also, that is a ton of 20v XP DeWalt Batteries.

Pretty cool, That portable box wiht the ratchets on the sides and the 3/8 drive stub if gonna keep me up at night.

I wonder if they have to deal with metric vs. SAE fasteners like the rest of us do? ;) One of my rides is a '94 Suburban that was built during the time that GM was slowly changing over to metric. It is about half metric and half SAE. Sometimes I feel like I've had to drag out the entire toolbox after I'm done working on it. :(

Very cool! While taking a look at that article and the photos, I seen one that also included the wheel spacers that the company I work for manufactures for NASCAR.

I'd guess it's used for chassis adjustments. They used to have a small hole in or near the back window they would stick a ratchet and extension in and give it a quarter turn or whatever was needed or wanted.

Interesting. You'd think NASCAR would've gone metric? The cars on this particular race team are Toyota Camry's albeit that doesn't mean much. NASCAR cars are all pretty much the same design.

The ENGINE is from Toyota, but that's about it as far as metric would be concerned.

I really enjoy the Speedhunter features in general. I'm not all that interested in the parts of car culture they cover (tho the pro level drift cars are pretty cool to look at), but I love the way they document things.

I really liked the little trays with all the tools for common jobs. Might try putting something like that for my track tool box.

Awesome. I can relate to the author when he mentions how he is more interested in the engineering, hardware and tools including fabrication tools than the actual racing.

I also like how everything is 5S'd. I routinely go through the 5S process in my shop at least annually.

Cool, but not nearly as impressive as I was expecting it to be.

That was the impressive part to me. Very simple tools that we almost all own. But lots of them and well organized to accomplish serious work.

...or maybe I'm weird. Which I can also accept.

And to think, for over a dozen years of racing in GT1, the only things we brought to the hot pits were a couple of hand tools in an old 3 drawer portable Craftsman box, two stopwatches, my setup notes & timing sheets, a chalk message board, a tire pressure gauge and sometimes a tire pyrometer...
