FNG here with a question that I can’t seem to find the answer to. What’s a good system or set of “rules” to use when sorting fasteners, etc. into different categories to put them in drawers, jars, etc.? Sorry if this has been answered before.

Depends on what you have and the quantities. All of my aircraft hardware is sorted by exact part number and then by plating type where appropriate. So for a single size bolt, I could have as many as 12 containers. For regular hardware, it's done by grade, size, thread pitch and material.
