Yes. There are 3 selections: clutch, drill, and hammer.

Best drill over owned to date! Great choice and really powerful withe the XC 4.0 battery.

That's awesome. Thanks for reply.
I was puzzled because Milwaukee also has a 2603-20 "1/2" Drill/Driver" without the hammer function for about $15 less.

Can't wait for my order to arrive! :rocker:

I looked over the differences, and it is well worth the extra $20 for the hammer version, even if you never use the hammer feature.

The hammer version has a chuck with carbide tipped jaws which are needed to get a better grip on bits when hammering, but also just gives a better grip in general.
And there's no real tradeoff. It isn't heavier (that you can feel), and it isn't bigger (ok, about 1mm longer, but really nothing significant).

I agree, this is the best drill I've ever owned. Oh, and if you're doing drilling on the low speed gear (1), consider using the side handle. This cordless has more power than my 1/2" corded DeWalt, and feels like it can rip your arms off.
