I have my Dad's Craftsman socket sets that he bought in the 1960's (V series). The 1/2 inch drive standard socket set includes a 7/16 socket but the deep well set does not and starts with 1/2 inch.

I an wondering if a 7/16 deep well was over produced or did his get lost at some point. He was extremely protective over his tools and lost very little over the years.

Tom,
I don't know the answer to your question but looking at a 1964 Craftsman Hand Tools catalog I didn't see a deep 7/16 with 1/2" drive. Even the 13-pc set on pg 5 starts with 1/2". Here's that link ... http://www.blackburntools.com/articles/rose-tools-catalog-archives/sears/pdfs/sears-craftsman-1964-hand.pdf.

Thank you tx, that more than likely settles it--not like him to loose a tool. I think he bought these in the mid-late 1960's. I've managed to keep them intact in spite of frequent usage since 1982 when he died.

Thanks again.
