A question regarding range hood filters

OK, you know those mesh filters that go inside a range hood? Does anyone know where I can buy that material? I need to make a custom sized filter for an under-the-cabinet range hood...

Can you just buy one that is larger than needed, and remove the aluminum edges, cut it down, and shorten the aluminum frame to fit the new size?

Look for a company near you that does commercial kitchen equipment, they can normally build to size very quick.
