A quickie 1 wall realignment

I have been doing some repairs that required me to get to the back of my saw and just getting the dog house off was a struggle. The first pic is the original set up, the next is after removing my drill press, arbor press and belt sander. I blocked the saw and used the porta-power to push the lathe about 30" The small tools on the shelf were not in a good place to work any way and it cleans up the area.

Steve, That's some serious equipment you have. It looks as if it fit's kinda tight there. I have some extra room in my garage...that's if you don't mind me use'n it

Nice - senior level equipment there. Is that a jumbo phase converter hanging on the wall? It's amazing how sometimes just moving a couple of things makes it so much better or frees up space. I seldom have such flashes I'm putting my heavy equipment on fabricated leveling platforms with rollers. When I got my mill/drill I built a stand that would let me level it and move it on casters by taking up the leveler feet. Going to do that with the lathe bench too.

I had been pondering what to do for a week, I would like to move that box to the side wall. The box is a DC motor drive for the lathe. The problem with moving the box is adding to around 40 wires and 2"liquid tight flex conduit. I suppose I could run a section of rigid across the back. The tether on it now is at the limit. I have a phase converter out of sight, just a 5HP motor with a few caps and relays. It is amazing how shuffling a few things makes a world of difference

Ah - DC controller, much more complicated. Yes - a cable tray would work for that I'd think, then you could put the box somewhere else. But if it has the E-stop on it, you might not want it that far off. My mill's three phase control takes up much less space:
