A Tool I Hate More Than a RoboGrip

I bought this 32 years ago and thought it was going to work well when I was working on aircraft. Never did like it. The effort to turn the tee handle which in turn spins the ratchet drive was to great. It was marketed or endorsed by a stock car driver and sold for $35.

might be nice for those times when there is not enough room to work the handle. But thats pretty what an air ratchet does for you...

I got one of those as a gift ages ago. Have never used it.

As far as using it in tight places where you can't work the handle, good luck because the head is huge.

cut the "tee" bar off and weld a nut to it, then just use a impact on it ;) . It might break it but who care at least you tried to make it usable. Out of curiousity how thick is the head?

Gator grip has a place in the toolbox. I have two that came with tool lots I have purchased. It's ok, just not the do all tool they advertised but good to have every once in 10 years. Alos in tool lots I somehow have a few of the OP's craptastic ratchets. Nothing good to say about those.

The biggest piece of **** has been the Rotozip! And I actually bought it on purpose! Works ok for dryawll duty but horrible for any other task. I am not a big fan of the dremmell, but it's at least usable.

I saw the sidewinders at Harbor Freight last weekend, not Pittsburgh, but the actual sidewinder brand. They are going to have a hard time moving them at $25 a pop. Even the greenhorn crowd that doesn't know any better wouldn't give that much (well most of them anyway).:lol_hitti

How do you use the Gatorgrip? I had a friend with a project with a bunch of wing nuts, he wanted one just for then when done. (I don't know WTF they were thinking with all them, instead of regular nuts and a ratchet)

The Rotozip isn't so bad, but then again, I gave $10 for mine, for a drywall project (paid for itself). It is all about getting the tool, at the right price, for its function. (Robogrips are good, for the CO2 tanks with kegs, people tend to leave them and they serve well there)

I bought a Rotozip for a kitchen floor project, and it was a lifesaver. My dishwasher was leaking for a while without anyone knowing, and it rotted the subfloor in a pretty large area. I needed to redo the entire kitchen subfloor to prepare for tile, but I wanted to leave the cabinets in place. The flush cutting attachment of the Rotozip works great. You can get into the toe cut out of a cabinet, and cut the floor. While I realize that there are other better makers of such flush cutting tools (Fein?), the Rotozip is several hundred dollars less than any of these, and does this one task extremely well.

I remember seeing those Sidewinders in Sears years ago, and I didn't get one. I do have a Robogrip, and I use it every now and then. It's OK, I don't have a problem with it. As far as the GatorGrip, It saved me once at the U-Pull-It junkyard when I didn't have any external Torx sockets with me. That GatorGrip really took a pounding that day.
